Cardio Score Fix?

I'm a recent fitbit reconvert from Garmin because I like the app better for day to day life tracking. However, one feature I really liked to use on Garmin to keep track of my fitness (I'm a long distance runner) was the VO2 Max score. Fitbit appears to have this feature, too, but I don't think it's working for me. I am 25F, have a rhr of 60-62, and can run the 1.5 mile in 11:30 (7:40/mi). Most calculators and my Garmin put my VO2 Max somewhere between 44-46 but the fitbit app, even with speed training logged, has me at 36-37 (low end of average). I did have an issue with my Garmin not getting my HR zones updated on my watch that caused similar issue and I'm wondering what the fix is for Fitbit. I'd like to have this working so I can track it over time.

Hi @caralily

Check out this article on cardio fitness. The section under how to make more precise has instructions that should reset your score. Sometimes it takes a little while for the score to adjust.

The thing is, I run at least 3x a week for 30 mins - 2 hours with GPS on
and most of my runs have 0-20 feet of elevation change because it's pancake
flat where I live. I did recently set a custom max HR though because my
heart rate approximately follows the accepted formula for women under 40
(226-age), and I found out fitbit uses the men's formula for everyone
(220-age), I don't know why Fitbit doesn't use the proper formula, Garmin
does. Does the cardio score just not recognize custom max HR? If not,
that's very disappointing.

Hi @caralily,

As far as I know, the Cardio Fitness score doesn't recognize custom HR settings. Hopefully if I'm mistaken, someone will chime in. But that's my understanding. I don't think there's much else outside the article that can be done.
