Cards on Fitib Wallet says it is active on Ionic but not showing up on watch

Hi All,

I have recently purchased the Fitbit Ionic and attempted to add a credit card to Fitbit Wallet using the Android app.  This completed successfully with verification code received from Commonwealth Bank of Australia which is a supported bank listed on Fitbit website.  The status of this card in my mobile wallet states that it is Active on Ionic, however when I long pressed the left button on my watch, it does not shows up any card, just stating that "Pay with Ionic" To start, add a card in the Wallet section of the Fitbit mobile app.

Did I missed a step in the configuration?  Tried re-installing the apps on Android, logging out and in on mobile apps, factory reset the Ionic, unpair and pair ionic from phone, none of these works and I am still unable to pay with my Ionic 😞

Phone: Sony Xperia Z5 running on Andrid 7.1.1

Fitbit Ionic Version: 27.25.16.7

Bank: Commonwealth Bank of Australia

And right on cue this morning, when I went to pay for breakfast with my Ionic, I again had the message that I needed to install a card to use Fitbit Pay. Into the app, suspend card, unsuspend card, enter pin on watch and there it was again. All much to the amusement of the cashier.

Come on Fitbit, sort this bug out.

@TrumpTrumpI'm using the Sony Xperia XP and Android 7.11 and ANZ.. I have only had two issues.. One was a data transmission error from a Suncorp Terminal.. The other from a CBA Terminal, and the error meant a "hot" card which ANZ advised that it wasn't, and their backroom gave no indication of the problem. In both cases, using the physical card worked immediately.  Everything was  debited and credited and never arrived on my statement. The Suncorp transaction left a "successful" transaction in the wallet.

I'm forwarding my odd errors to Fitbit Support. But, I have only had the 2 errors in just on 150 transactions. I have had multiple successful transactions on the same  "hot" card terminal since that lone error..

We will get there, because Apple has been using their Pay system since 2013...

@SunsetRunner Thank you for the tips and link to the other threads.

I have tried so many times in suspending the card and unsuspending the card, restart both the phone and the watch.  Factory reset the watch, uninstall the app on the phone, uninstall wallet app and reinstall it.  Getting to the point of frustration with no way to get the card onto the watch.  Everything else works fine though.  I can see syncing card to watch message displayed every time I re-activate my card but that's about it, no error message.  Not sure what else can be done.

@TrumpTrump In afraid I'm at a loss now. I've given up and consider the system broken and awaiting an update. Not good and not happy but all I can do now is wait. I've exhausted all avenues.

Finally after 10+ re-installing everything (Factory reset on Ionic + firmware updates and reinstall Fitbit app from app store).  It is now finally working, I can see my CBA card on my watch for once, hope I don't lose it.  Fitbit dev team, I hope you guys are watching these thread, it's something wrong with the firmware of the watch I believe.

@TrumpTrumpThanks for that... I had a Sony Z? phone a couple of models before yours and had all sorts of issues with Fitbit.  Fortunately I dropped it, smashed, and I was out of a plan so I migrated to the X Xperia (XP) in August of 2016 - Telstra. Since the 7.1.1 upgrade the phone has provided everything I need from Fitbit

BUT, since App 2.59 I have had the odd sync issues, and now the Ionic, those sync issues have continued.  THey were with the Blaze as well.

I  tried to sync now as I type, and it just cycled around and around syncing.. The minute I restarted the Ionic, it synced immediately and then I synced again.... immediate... I only have, "Always Connected" for the syncing.  I never have any issues with the Telstra 4G because I have line of site of their tower 200m away.

Because I have the App open, I noticed it is connected and my HR is showing being updated continuously..  Another sync worked....

Good night for now...

I am also having this issue.  I just got the Fitbit Iconic yesterday and setup my Amex.  On my phone (Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge), it says that it is active on my Fitbit, but when I press and hold the left button on my iconic, it tells me "To start, add a card in the Wallet section of the Fitbit mobile app."  Tried suspending the card, syncing and reactivating the card, but no joy.   The Fitbit got the firmware update when I first set it up, but before I setup the card.   Not sure what else to try.

@kifarr You can try the below steps:

1) factory reset on your ionic watch (Settings --> about --> Factory Reset --> Yest to erase all data)

2) uninstall the Fitbi app from S7

3) unpair Fitbit ionic from your S7 bluetooth

4) Reinstall Fitbit app on S7, reinstall firmware update on Ionic (follow app instruction to setup new fitbit)

5) Try adding the card again

Rinse and repeat the above steps until it works (Took me 5 to 6 resets while trying the suspend and unsuspend, unpair and pair tricks in between reset until I got mine working).

Hope Fitbit dev team is listening as they have yet to acknowledge this defect in the firmware.

@kifarr given this is a known bug, I suggest you contact Fitbit support and forward your details to them about this issue. The more people that do, the better the chance of them fixing it.

It would appear that the latest (today) firmware (27.30.5.8) update fixes this issue. I’ve just updated and my card is back on my Ionic. Yay!

I hate to bring this thread back to life, but I've encountered this problem and have tried everything to no avail. My capital one card is clearly in the wallet but it simply never makes it to the watch. I've spent a week uninstalling/unpairing, installing/pairing, suspending/unsuspending and nothing works. I'm using an android phone (BlackBerry Keyone) running version 7.1.1.

Anybody else figure out a workaround?

@Bcfour Unfortunately it would appear your phone isn’t supported, (you can check for yourself here supported devices ), and that may be the reason you are unsuccessful in your attempts.

I knew that response was coming . . . . Because that's the pat response on every thread when something doesn't work.

I should not have to buy a different phone to get standard functions to work properly.
