Change Starting Weight

I need to change my starting weight.  I just started my diet on Monday and want to use that weight as my start, not the weight that I was when I bought the Ionic.  I have deleted all of the previous weight entries in the log and even went into the settings and changed my weight but it is still using my initial weight entry so it isn't showing the right amount of my loss. This should be a no brainer, but I can't figure it out.

Okay... so you have to do it in your dashboard on an actual computer!!

log into your account

go to the ‘log’ tab

go to the ‘food’ tab (yes, the food tab)

go down to ‘food plan’ in the food tab

using the arrows scroll across to ‘plan summary’

click on ‘edit plan’ - change it there

log out of your app and log back in

the problem should be fixed!!  It should show you the date you want!!

When you are looking at the weight tile there should be a gear icon (settings)...you can change the starting weight and goal weight there.

@gmarmy171 Welcome to the Fitbit Community! I'm glad to hear you are reaching your weight loss goals. Thanks for trying those steps.

Have you tried editing your goal? In the Fitbit app please tap the weight tile and you will find an option to edit the weight goal. Editing this should start giving you the right information using your current weight. It looks like this:

I'd also recommend checking this excellent post about creating and managing a food plan. I'm sure you will find a lot of interesting and useful information there.

@Cantryboy I hope you're doing well! Thanks for your awesome help on this thread.

Try this out and let me know how it goes! Smiley Happy

Thanks for trying to assist me with this. I am trying to set a start weight on a particular date, not my goal weight. I want the system to see that I weighed a certain weight on April 2nd and to use that weight as my start weight. Not what I entered back when I bought my Fitbit. I have no issues with my goal weight....other than attaining it. LOL

I am having the same issue. I want to change the DATE of my starting weight.

It has been fixed in my app.  Go to your account...looks like an index card at the top right hand of your screen.  Then select Nutrition and Body.  From there you can now enter the date of your starting weight.

Not on mine... it doesn’t matter what date I select, it keeps defaulting back to today’s date immediately!!  It doesn’t retain the date that I want to use!!  So FREAKING annoying!!!

Editing your goal weight will automatically start your weight loss date from today’s date, not the exact date we want to use!!!  The app is flawed!!  It doesn’t allow you to change the date!!  It changes it for a milli-second and then bounces right back to today’s date!!!  Stupid glitch that seems to me and the others trying to use it like something worth fixing!!!

  • Looks like they took that option away.   Now I have lost all of my progress.  I hadn’t looked at it since the last update.   This is ridiculous.
