Clasp lost from Ionic wristband

Hi All.

I've recently lost the little metal (or plastic) 'stud' or nodule that clips the wrist band together.

Anyone else ever lost this and is it replaceable?

Hey there @DiamondD! Just as @supersmart01234 mentioned, currently there isn't a clasp available for Ionic. Since, it's a wristband that has two ways to secure it; the solution will be to buy a new wristband.

Hope this helps!

Sadly,No. I have not lost this. It seems very secure. You have to buy another band because this is not listed on the accessories page.

Thanks to you both. I've ordered another band.

Too late to help, but I had that happen, contacted support, suggested using metal stud from other sized band that came with the Ionic.  I hadn't thought of that, but it works, at least until this one falls out.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

This is not an acceptable solution!  You should be able to buy the metal clasp only and not the entire watchband!  Fitbit offers this option for other products.  This is a design flaw.  Iconic watches are not cheap.  Whoever makes the watch bands could supply extra clasps for consumers.  This is a way of gouging the customer for more money.  Fitbit needs to remedy this issue.  As more people buy these watches and have the same issue with clasps, the word will get out quickly not to buy an Iconic watch!

I agree buying a new band for one tiny component is unacceptable.  Lost mine after only two months of wear.  Not good and Fitbit needs to fix this for us.

Your suggestion was a little late but very welcome! Had completely forgot about the additional strap that ships with the iconic.

I had my clasp on my fitbit ionic fall last week while i was out and about walking. I called fitbit customer service and they said because it had been over a year since I bought my watch I they would not replace it and I wad to buy a new strap band for 29.99. I told them why would I want to buy another strap if the lifetime is less than 2 years? Offer the clamp by itself @Fitbit this is very inconvenient, or lower the cost of a replacement band.

Both of my clasps have fell out.  My wife has been telling me for months to get the band repaired and I came here and see this, that the only solution is purchasing another band.  All I need is a clasp.

I paid $280 for this watch.  And now I need to pay $40 more for a band.  This isn't right.

My colleagues have a garmin watches for running, in which they have had for years with the same bands, and my fitbit ionic isn't even a year old yet and I'm having problems.

I think a Garmin watch will be my solution.

I remember it and it fell out. So now have lost both.

UPDATE: 5-26-20 bought a new band just to get the clasp and now it is lost again. What a **ahem** system.

I did and it fell out also

This is why forums exist! Such a simple solution but one that solves the problem perfectly.

Thank you!

I’ve lost 4 of these little clasps. Each one required a new band just for the clasp. As a result, I’m never going with this design again it is really faulty. They should sell the clasps separately at $1.00 each.

My next smart watch will be a GARMIN for sure.

This message should go to Fitbit authorities.

I lost my clasp from my ionic wristband and went online to see if I can get a replacement clasp without buying a new band.  I'm glad  I went to this message board which reminded me of the other size band that came with the watch.  So now I will use that clasp and I'll be careful when taking off watch knowing that the clasp can get dislodged and fall off.  Thank you.

This issue is so sad.  I also lost the clasp on my Ionic band, despite being hyper-vigilant and careful not to lose it, because of the underlying issue - there is a serious DESIGN FLAW here.  The clasp does not stay in place well enough to be considered satisfactory.  Because of this, MANY people have lost the clasp.

It amazes me that a replacement is not available through Fitbit, considering how common this issue is.

I searched many different options online, and did not find anything, so I went to the source.  Fitbit does not sell a replacement clasp (something that DEFINITELY should be changed, Fitbit...) and if you are as unfortunate as me, you are outside of the one year warranty.

I "chatted" with a customer "service" representative, and they said that because I was outside of the warranty, they could not send me a replacement clasp.  I told them that I was willing to PURCHASE the clasp, as the rest of the band is COMPLETELY FUNCTIONAL, and they said they could not do this.  Why? They recommended buying a new band. $30.00! I guess this is why Fitbit is a 1.1 Billion company - they get people to make a completely UNNECESSARY purchase to the tune of probably 10x what the clasp should cost.  And people do this!  I bet that if they offered to sell replacement clasps, they could still manage significant margins because even $10 for a replacement clasp (that probably costs pennies to manufacture)  would be more palatable than $30 for a new band.

I argued online - back-and-forth - for over an hour, and FINALLY they acquiesced and are sending me a replacement clasp. It should NEVER have taken that kind of effort on my part in the name of solid customer service.

I am truly disappointed in Fitbit, their business model (specifically related to this issue), and the fact that the customer service department effectively has their hands almost completely tied with regard to making good on a seemingly simple issue to resolve.

PLEASE re-evaluate, @SilviaFitbit (and the Fitbit company overall), and make good on this DESIGN FLAW. Make the clasps AVAILABLE for purchase (likely a SIMPLE and potentially really lucrative solution), fix the DESIGN FLAW, or BOTH.  Otherwise, expect to hear from a LOT of unhappy customers, many of whom will seek to purchase from a competitor when they go to replace your product.

My job requires that I remove my watch frequently. The metal clasp repeatedly fell out until finally it fell out and could not be located. I used the metal clasp from the other band provided with my Ionic and that also fell out and could not be found. I agree that this is a design flaw and said as much when I contacted Fitbit Support. Fitbit replaced the band but what I really wanted was replacement clasps which they said was not available.

I agree with all who said this is not a acceptable solution It’s just Fitbit being profit driven and shows poor customer service It reminds me of when the bands were falling apart on the surge and their solution was “Buy a new watch”

It's quite pathetic that this was an acceptable solution! I've lost both clips now. And I want a better solution from Fitbit. Make the clips available or loose customers!!!
