It's not really clear when, which is understandable.  With technology coming out as quickly as it is, things easily become outdated and the amount of the "latest and greatest" is mind boggling.  Android runs on a much larger platform than Apple with a lot more phones and carriers running the Android system.  That's why it takes so long for the Android platform to be updated for a lot of companies.  There's a lot that goes on behind the scenes that I'm sure we're not aware of. with all the testing that needs to be done, which may be why it takes so long for companies to come out with things for Android users.

I've heard that canned reply-to-text on android is upcoming. I'm not expecting to be able to answer calls, as the Ionic has no speaker/microphone.

Work out...eat... sleep...repeat!
