If ANYONE can explain this one discrepancy in Smartwatches....please do so...

In this modern age. Cellphone connecting with towers. Laptops connecting to internet. Earphones connecting to music devices. Controllers connecting wirelessly to video games...WHY is connecting to Bluetooth or the Fitbit app so $^*&% complicated??

I really don't get it?

Factory Reset

Hold 3 Buttons

Release 1 Button at the 'right time'

Disconnect ALL Bluetooth devices JUST to connect the watch

Smartwatch doesn't keep time

Restart Phone

Restart Computer

Charger doesn't charge

Reset with App stating "I Found It" only to not connect again,

Dead

Get a new device

Repeat

All of the above has happened in owning a device for less than two years.

Costs 1/4 the value of a Smartphone but lasts less than one.

I would bet that if you had to replace all of the defunct Smartwatches with the latest & greatest...

You would be out of business on cost alone.

I am investing in a new Smartwatch. I have been reading up on "Top Ten" lists.

There's an irony that Fitbit is not on the tops of those lists.

Agreed you make cutting edge technology

Agreed it looks futuristic

Sadly though, costs and duration doesn't cut it

I get that now.

If a Smartwatch can't behave....Smart...or worse....simple....it's a brand I don't need to associate with.

What is sad...the Fitbit App and Community is amazing.

I will have to let it go...because I don't have a Smartwatch to associate it with.

...and I have friends I got be a part of it with me...

In my mind...the app works flawlessly. I was about to do the Premium experience...

...the Smartwatch died and wouldn't work.

Neither of them

One started to work...and wouldn't connect. So I couldn't even tell time.

So I close with the question with the opening. Why is connectivity for a Smartwatch company such an issue. It should not be.

And with one dead unit and one DUMBwatch unable to connect....

I would like an answer...but I am done.

...and you don't have an answer.

To be fair...your help desk have helped me with replacements. It's just that...it shouldn't have to be replaced unless the unit was a malfunction from the get go. Not something indicative to the actual product and it's history.

Thanks...

Would still love an answer if you can.

Hi @SoccerIonic,

I'm a bit confused, are you saying that the Ionic isn't keeping time?  If that's the issue, then sadly, it is an issue with the app and not the watch itself, since the watch is tied to the app.

Hi @DramaQueenDiva

The Ionic is not keeping time...and it IS the watch. You are not able to manually set the clock, just the clock face. This is my complaint about 'connectivity'. The only way to have your clock operational is if the watch is pairing with bluetooth. Not even Wifi is a consideration as your connections are random. If the Ionic is unable to connect to your device, in my case, my phone, then what has been happening to me over the course of a day is I am losing 5min, 10min, 30min, an hour and so on. Unfortunately...when I start losing time...I am completely unable to get me Ionic connected and then it is dead. Losing time is the first indication that my Ionic is no longer working.

And it has happened on BOTH Ionics.

Thanks,

I've had my devices lose both date and time and once I synced it to the Dashboard, they corrected themselves, thus proving that they are working properly.  I do agree that it's a connectivity issue but not with the device itself.  I'm thinking it's more something on the software side (the app itself to be specific).

Have you tried to the clear the cache?  I noticed on the troubleshooting that you already did (thanks for that by the way!) it wasn't listed if you did try it.

I also understand that you have several issues, but you indicated that this was the important one, so I figured we would start with that.  As far as the charger not charging, can you verify that both the contacts and the pins themselves are clean?

How do you clear the cache on your fitbit?  I am also having all the issues mentioned by SoccerIonic and agree that it is definitely the fitbit. This only started happening a few weeks ago, Oct 17th or 18th....
