I just got my husband the new Ionic for Christmas. In reading the instructions it states it may have a magnet which may interfere with a pacemaker/defibrilator. It only says may and does not day for sure. I need to know if it does include a magnet because if thats the case he can't use this $300 fitbit. I purchased it for some of the capabilities it has that would be able to help him related to some deficets he has related to his traumatic brain injury.

I agree, I would contact Customer Service to verify, HOWEVER, I think the magnet they are referring to is the one on the charging cable that connects to the back of the Ionic for "Recharging". I don't recall personally ever reading anything that stated the Ionic had magnets in the actual device. But to be totally safe, again, I would consult with the Customer Service Team! Good Luck, he will love the Ionic!

It is not very powerful, but the back of my Ionic is magnetized enough at the charging port to pick up a paperclip. This may simply be a result of the metal around the charging port developing magnetism from charging cord, which, as @GySgt_Seidell points out, is magnetized at the end that connect to the Ionic. But in any event, there IS some magnetism.
You should probably talk to your husband's doctor about whether or not he can or should use it.
