I don't know how to fix it where he can wear his new watch to track his steps and have a clock...  Any help is appreciated!  He can not stand the continual buzzing...

Have you tried restarting the Ionic - press and hold the left and bottom right buttons for about 10 seconds until the screen blanks. That might sort it out.
