Device not responding after update

So Tuesday January 7th I went to update my ionic and during the update something went wonky and my ionic screen went black. I thought maybe the charging port was no good so I switched it to another plug. I have tried to charge it a few time since and my ionic won’t turn on. When I plug it in a small yellow battery flashing along the top. But won’t take charge. I called Fitbit. They say it’s toast and to buy a new one. I have no warranty. I believe it’s around 14 months old. Any ideas on what I could do?  It’s not my fault that it went wonky during update?

I was on "Step 3" Install update. Screen went black and now even a button reset won't start this Ionic. Was fully charged for the "fresh" install. Was not syncing watch faces or tracking sleep for days. Uninstalled the fitbit App and factory reset the Ionic. All was going well till the screen went v

black on the final step of the fresh install. This seems common the more I read about this device.

Thanks for your message. I called back and the second lady was much better. She removed my ionic from app and readded it and now it works!  So happy as I really can’t afford a new Fitbit at this time

I am also having the same problem. My ionic was plugged in and had just under 50% battery when I ran the update on 1/13/2020. During the update, my screen went black and I have not been able to get it to turn on since. I called customer support and was able to complete all of the troubleshooting steps, except clean the charging port with a toothbrush and alcohol (because I do not have those items on me at the time). The ionic was charged and also on the charger charging when it died, so not being charged does not seem logical. I have since cleaned it and it still does not charge or turn on.

It seems odd that a few of us are starting to experience this. I would wait on the update if possible until fitbit determines what is causing this, because at this point, replacing the ionic is the next option, which is a costly price to pay for running an update 😞
