Do I need to re-install the app for a new Fitbit tracker?

Trading in old Surge (broken) for a new Ionic.  Do I need to delete the app on my iPhone and install new app?  Or will the existing app work?

@Ben-Pensacola Welcome to our Fitbit Community! Regarding your inquiry, my friend @sfringer is correct, you need the same Fitbit app and you need to set up a new Fitbit device. Please check out this help article, which contains the setup process for a replacement unit or a new device.

The existing app should work just fine; you'll just need to add your new Ionic in the app.
