Do most Fitbit trackers have a short lifespan?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I had the charge 3 but within a year the screen stopped responding. Fitbit replaced it for free but still within another 6 months the heart monitor light went out. Overall each Fitbit hasn’t even lasted me the year. My parents had bought Fitbit versa and theirs also stopped working around the one year mark.

Do all Fitbit devices have short lifespans? Or were we just unlucky?  I want something that is likely to last at least a couple years and not always need to troubleshoot it

Hi @Oleander12, welcome to the Community Forums!

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts and personal experience with your Fitbit device, I understand your situation and how frustrating this matter can be for you. In my personal opinion, I can tell you that I've owned several Fitbit devices in the past (Blaze, Alta HR, Charge 3, etc.) and all of them are still working. I recently had to replace the wristband of my Ionic because my dog unfortunately thought that it was a chew toy, but that was all.

On the other hand and to provide you assistance with the issue you're currently experiencing with the heart rate sensors of your Charge 3, can you please share with me more details? You can troubleshoot the sensors following the steps that are specified on: Why don't I see my heart rate on my Fitbit device?

Looking forward to your reply. Let me know if you have any additional question.

Both fitbit ionic devices I had started developing faults between the 6-8 month mark. First fitbit was replaced free of charge as it was in the warranty period, the second developed a fault after month 6 but the warranty only covered the device from purchase and not the replacement which was massively disappointing. Customer service this time has been shocking, may be in some part due to the pandemic, I eventually was offered a 25% discount off a new tracker. To be honest it has put me off fitbit for good and I've bought another tracker elsewhere.

I've had my ionic replaced twice in two years and the current one is also playing up. Quality is rubbish as far as I can see.

The heart rate light wouldn’t turn off and I tried various different troubleshooting methods that didn’t work and soon after the light gave out completely.

I.am on my 6th tracker, Fitbit have had to replace my Surge, Charge and Ionic. I have had just over a year maximum out of each one. Really not good enough.
