Does display on the Ionic stay on at all times or does is spend most of its time blacked out as with the Blaze?

I used "always-on" for a half marathon I did last month and it didn't last the 90 minutes I was running.

Fenix 5 Plus. Previously Ionic and Surge. Google Pixels 3 and 5. Aria. Chromebook. Deezer and Audible.

I thought about getting the Ionic, but honestly I’m not buying another Fitbit until this is fixed. It’s not a feature, it’s a design flaw.

Unfortunately, I don't think it's possible to "fix" this: the battery wouldn't last more than a few hours with the screen on.

agreed- bought the ionic and love it except that during a workout i need to see that display and not have it go off when I'm in the middle of activity- not at all easy to reach and press the left wake-up button in the middle of burpees, high knees, jump squats, ETC!

I always find it frustrating when my charge hr doesn't pick up the heart
rate before the display times out. I have to try over and over again before
I get a current reading, which is annoying at best. Give us the choice to
set a screen timeout. Let us decide if we want to take a battery hit for a
bit more functionality or not. You let us turn off and on notifications for
the same purpose, why not be able to adjust this?

Yes. I had to dump my Fitbit for something else that I could actually use at work (med field). Sad. I was hoping they would at the least offer a software update to add a 30sec time-out. I am done waiting. 😞

@SunsetRunner There are several watch faces that allow “always on”, as well as the fact the stock display can be on for 20 seconds.

I have a blaze and the display only stays lit for 10 seconds.  I work in health care and need a watch/fitness tracker with a display that stays lit for longer than that, AT LEAST 30 seconds.  I'm not the only one with this issue.  I have read other question/answer forums with other health care workers that need this as well, so as to take pt's vitals.  The blaze display does not always come back on when you flip your wrist and it was a problem when I found myself in an emergency and not my every day routine.
