Does ionic have call and text features?

My son is a serious runner and would like the ionic for Christmas.  He seems to think that he can sync the watch with his phone and receive calls and texts.  I just want to confirm this before I purchase.

Hi,

there is no cellular connection with the watch so the phone has to come with you.

It can relay text messages / whatsapp ? email etc to the watch, but you cannot reply.

Since there is no microphone in the watch, you can't recieve calls on it. There is also no way you can reply to texts and emails. You can recieve them, but not send them.
