My Ionic consistently reads a heart rate about twice the actual rate when I am on the elliptical machine. I am a runner and know when my heart rate is elevated. This morning while using the elliptical my Ionic was showing a 160 bpm heart rate but when I checked it against the sensors on the machine I was actually in the 80 +/- bpm range. My heart rate during my 35 minutes topped out in the 110-115 range but the Ionic recorded a high of 213.
This happens every time that I use an elliptical machine. Any other treadmill, stationary bike or stair machine that I use I appear to get a more reliable reading from the Ionic.
I have tried repositioning the Ionic higher and lower. i have moved it to the other wrist, and I have tightened and loosened the strap and still cannot get an accurate reading.
Is there something else that I should be doing?

Hi @Tbottorf, welcome to the Community Forums!
I appreciate all the information and details that were shared in your post, thanks for trying some accuracy recommendation prior to posting too. Please take in consideration that we do not suggest our users to compare the information that's recorded with the Fitbit device and other heart rate-tracking devices because both will use different algorithms to track the data. However, if you haven't already done so, I recommend you to check: How do I track my heart rate with my Fitbit device? to learn more about how your heart rate is being recorded with your Ionic device.
Let me know if you have any additional questions, I'll be here.

RicardoFitbit, I did read through this before I made my initial post. I just find it odd that I have no troubles with getting a reliable reading during other workouts. When I run I will have a heart rate in the 150-170 range depending on the intensity of the run. So when i am on the elliptical and not working nearly as hard as when on a run, and I get a reading of 180 and higher, I know that something is not correct. Any other machine workout, stationary bike, treadmill, stair machine, etc. I feel that I am getting an accurate reading. When I check my HR against these other machines the display is very close to what I read from my Ionic.
I am just perplexed why this happens only on an elliptical machine and wondered if anyone else experiences this.
