My wife purchased two ionics November 2017. When my wife’s screen died on her fit bit ionic a few weeks ago, July 2019, we contacted customer support, tried to trouble shoot the device and couldn’t get it operational. Outside of the one year warrantee she was offered a discount on her next purchase. Then my ionic screen died August 2019. Contacted customer support again, trouble shoot the device and couldn’t be get it operational. Offers do the same discount on next purchase. Reviewing the warrantee I discovered that the European Economic Area (EEA) gets a two year warrantee. If fitbit will give one group of people a two year warrantee it should be good for anyone. Frankly a product should be guaranteed functional for two years. I’m disappointed that I would need to live in Europe to receive a higher lever of customer care from a US based company. I’m disappointed that Fitbit doesn’t believe in it’s product enough to offer a two year warrantee.

This is because Europe made some European laws that electronic devices need a warrantly period of 2 years. This is probably because of some gut feeling of planned obsolescence. Why did tv's lasted for 30 years back in the days and now only a couple of years same thing with cell phones. . Part of the circulair economy targets of the European union they tried to slightly improve life span of electronic products. It's just fitbit has to do it because of the laws over here.....
