Excercise calories vs My Fitness Pal.

Hi,

Sorry if this has already been answered but I can find anything. I've just started using a Fitbit Ionic (my first Fitbit!) and until now have logged my exercise on the MyFitnessPal app on my phone (Iphone SE).

Today I did some weights, jump rope and rowing machine, and on all three of them the calories shown as burned on the Fitbit were between half and two-thirds that shown on MyFitnessPal for the same exercise. Does that make any sense to anyone? Is Fitbit just more accurate because of the heart rate monitor and I'm going to have to start working harder 🙂 ?

Thanks.

@Glen1234 Welcome to the Fitbit forums! Thanks for taking the time to post the experience you had with calories burned from Fitbit and MyFitnessPal.

Calories provided by Fitbit devices are very accurate because of the heart rate monitor. I'd recommend linking both accounts (Fitbit and MyFitnessPal), so the calories from Fitbit will transfer to MFP to get a more complete picture of your health.

Hope this helps. Keep me posted! Smiley Happy
