External BT speaker rather than headphone

Should the Ionic properly play on an external BT speaker rather than headphones or does it not have that much output?   The reason I ask I bought an external not high dollar but not el cheapo  and seems to breakup a lot. Nit sure if it is the speaker or just the Ionic will not give enough juice. The speaker does work well from computer BT music. Would love to be able to sit at park or even back deck and listen to music on speaker while playing on ham radio on Sunday mornings. The speaker is one of the 808 Canz. HAs great sound

Thanks

‘Output’ doesn’t come into it since all we’re talking about here is a Bluetooth connection. As such it should connect to anything that supports the appropriate Bluetooth profile.

I tried playing music with an older cheap bluetooth 2.0 speaker and it's sound was breaking up a lot too and the pitch of the song was a little higher, like on helium. For kicks I tried pairing with a new Bose speaker in the store. The music played clear without any breakup. Doesn't really help but that's my experience. So maybe it has issues with some speakers with older bluetooth technology?
