FITBIT App updated today - lost all sync with Pixel 2 XL

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

The Fitbit app was updated via google store today, and since then the ionic and app have failed to sync. The widget functionality has also gone from the latest update of the app.

12 hours and no sync, despite following every action already written on 'how to fix syncing issues', except of course the factory reset.

Anybody else had issues with the app update for android?

I have the same problem and can't find way to resolve issue of synching between Ionic and cel. The only way I've found to sync info gathered on the Ionic is through my computer, which then syncs with my cel.

Pretty much the same issue with my Versa to Samsung S8. It started after the last firmware update

I have a the exact same issue. Every time there's a software update (on Samsung phone and now my Pixel 3) my ionic freezes. Usually I can resolve it by unpairing and re-pairing the device to my phone.

Interestingly enough, when I unpaired it this time my Ionic bricked itself. It was charged over 70% when it died and I can't physically reset it. Of course  the warranty expired a month ago. I am beyond disappointed.

I've had issues with the pairing of my watch with my cel everytime there's
an upgrade!

I think it's about high time for the people at Fitbit to grab the bull by
the horns and resolve these issues, or they're going to loose a lot of
us!!!!

I have a Pixel XL osV9 and new Iconic will rarely sync.  Tried all the tricks, and just about ready to give up caring.  Life is too short.

A warm welcome to the Community @Lard. Thanks for the troubleshooting tried. Sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue.

I was checking the list of supported devices and I noticed that the phone you're using is a supported device. I would like you to confirm that you tried this syncing procedure

Also, provide me with more details about the syncing issue that you're having:

- Are you receiving any error messages in your app?
- Do you have "all day sync" option?

Keep me posted!

Here is what works for me.  My pixel doesn't want to sync after the app updates, unless I uninstall and reinstall the app.

When updating, I usually uninstall the app prior to updating.  Instead of  updating, then uninstalling and reinstalling the app.  Either way works  for me.

Good luck.

Thank you Silvia.  Right after I got your reply, I also received a post from GTOJim, who  had a Pixel with the same Fitbit sync issue.  I took his advice, uninstalled the Fitbit app, reinstalled the Fitbit app, and....voila...it synced immediately.

I am so appreciative of this forum.  Crowd-sourcing solutions is the way to go! And folks like GTOJim make it happen.

GTOJim, thanks so much for your reply to my problem. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Fitbit app, and it immediately restored the sync functionality.  Thanks so much. Lard

Just to add to this conversation. Sync to the Fitbit Ionic is sporadic at
best. My Pixel 2 XL will sync but could be days later. Yes I get the
numerous restart problem with Bluetooth not connecting. Strange given my
Bluetooth connects seemlessly to other devices. I too have done all the
advised fixes, now I just don't bother checking daily the app. I get the
feeling it doesn't like any other interference in the room, or other things
connected to the phone. Frustrating.

Notfitenough63, I did exactly as you described without success or improvement.    A couple posts above yours I described what works for me.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.  If this works, expect the next update to break sync.    If this happens,  uninstall and reinstall the app.

Have now uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Will let you know how it goes
with sync during the day.

Hi Sylvia.  I realize just now I forgot to answer your specific questions.  Sorry.  I did  not receive any error messages.  I tried multiple settings.  It didn't matter if I had sync all day on or not.  It didn't matter if I had stay connected enabled, or not.  Now that I removed and reinstalled the same version app, it syncs reliably.  Don't need to have those above mentioned options turned on.

Thanks again for the welcoming message.

Regards, Lard

Notfitenough63  how are things going, did the uninstall, reinstall help?

Best Answer
So far so good. Certainly more consistent sync, in fact just now synced
without prompting. Will monitor now if notifications work.

Good news. Remember the next update will break sync so you will need to do the uninstall, reinstall again. Normally I uninstall prior to installing each new update.
