Will my Ionic receive the latest firmware update though my old dongle?

I've been following the procedures I've found on this forum to facilitate the latest firmware to be pushed to my Ionic, but I haven't received it yet.  My Ionic tells me it has firmware version 27.33.1.30.

Over the past two days, because my Samsung Galaxy J7 is driving me nuts, my Ionic seems to sync much more consistantly and music uploads much easier over my old Charge HR dongle.

Yes @DarthFreeman it should work through the Fitbit dongle, your native computers Bluetooth, or your chsrtHow do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device?my cable when the ionic is plugged into the computer.
