Fitbit App not retaining information into the next day

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

The app on my Gallaxy 6 will record and sync to my Ionic during the day but does not retain that information into the next day. Nothing has been recorded since I updated the app 3 days ago. Ideas?

@Janemh Welcome to the Fitbit Community! That is strange! Please try the following:

  • Log out from the Fitbit App.
  • Reboot your phone.
  • Log back in to the Fitbit App.

Once there, hit the back arrows to see the previous days data. It should show all of the progress you have done in previous days.

Also, please note that your Ionic will reset itself at midnight every day. You will start every day with 0 steps and data, but all information you have synced before will remain there if you check the previous days.

Try that out and let me know how it goes! Smiley Happy

Thank you for your help! I ended up calling support and she had me do
several things. The last thing tried was restarting my phone. I will try
that first if it happens again!

@Janemh Thanks for your reply! I'm glad to hear that support was able to help you out with this.

Rebooting your phone when your watch is not syncing is always a good workaround to try. Feel free to perform that if this ever happens again.

Also, take a look at the Discussions Board as you will find a lot of interesting things there. Feel free to post on any thread you want. If you are looking for Fitbit friends to compete with on challenges, check this thread to add some!

What could I be doing that would make my Ionic stop getting notifications? I tried restarting

but am still getting no notifications.

@Janemh Thanks for your reply! If you stopped receiving notifications you may be needed to perform some troubleshooting to get them to work again. Please try the following:

Make sure your phone is not on "Do not Disturb" mode.

Then, try the following troubleshooting steps for notifications:

  • Force quit the Fitbit App and re open it to sync your Fitbit device. Notifications should work after syncing. If nothing, continue...
  • Turn off Bluetooth, wait 10 seconds, turn it back on. Notifications should work, if not continue...
  • Restart your Ionic.

If after doing that notifications are still not working, try refreshing them:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon >  your device image.
  2. Tap "Notifications".
  3. Turn off all notifications
  4. Restart your phone.
  5. Open the Fitbit app and turn notifications back on.
  6. Sync your Ionic. Notifications should work afterwards.

If still nothing, try setting the notifications once again:

  1. Tell your phone to "forget" your device, removing the connection between the phone and the Fitbit device:
    1. On your phone, go to "Settings > Bluetooth" and find your Fitbit device in the list.
    2. Find an option to forget the device.
  2. Open the Fitbit app and set up notifications again.

They should definitely work at this point! Please check this helpful article for more details about this.
