Fitbit Ionic Connected GPS to save battery?

I know the Ionic has built in GPS, but using that severely limits the battery life.  Is there an option to allow connected GPS with the Ionic in order to save battery life?

The point iIlike about the ionic a GPS is that it last longer than the phone will wothwthe connected GPS. To me it is more important to have the phone working, especially when I can get 6 hours of GPS on the ionic.

I've just come on the forum to ask the same question. I had the Charge 2 before. That was really good. Whenever I went out for a cycle ride, it picked up everything automatically. Why can't they do the same with the Ionic?

They probably could, but the ionic was designed to be an update to the Surge having the added features requested.

Basically the Ionic was designed to have built in GPS for those that want GPS. The Charge 2 at its lower price uses the connected GPS. if your interested in the extra bells and whistles of the ionic without the built-in GPS, my suggestion would to buy the lower-priced Versa which does use connected GPS.
