After having used a surge for less than a year, I switched to the more versatile (and expensive) Ionic. Less than two months later, it won't switch on: the screen is dead. After having gone through multiple forums, this seems to be a common occurrence. I'd have filed for a refund if this was less than 45 days old. Fitbit is losing a faithful customer today.

Sunsetrunner - I hope more people see that treating the people poorly will have a negative affect on sales.

The same happened to me. I have no receipt, so now I'm making a decision whether I'm willing to pay for fixing it, or simply buy another watch. Thanks for your comment, I see fixing it might not help in the long term. I will probably buy another watch. Not worthy of more investment. I'm deeply disappointed by my purchase. Ionic is far too expensive to just die like this without any reason...Fitbit is definitely not a brand I will go with in the future...:(

Done! I moved to Garmin. Love my Fenix 6 (so far). Super expensive, but I really use these wearables and, after 5 Fitbits (two Ionics), it was time to move on from Fitbit.

Anyone else find it strange that NO ONE from Fitbit is even answering this thread where we are all saying we are going elsewhere?

I purchased vivoactive 3. So far I am happy, it took a while to get accustom to the format, but it is getting the job done. If it lasts more than 18 months then it will have beat all the FITBITS I have owned. Regardless I doubt I will ever go back to FITBIT unless they increase the warranty, as it is they are disposable in my opinion. But maybe the Garmin is as well only time will tell. Cheers

All they seem to say is that the warranty is one year. Makes a person wonder how many warranty replacements they send out that fall within the year. I guess charge 4times what they are worth, figure worst case last 6 months, send out replacement. Still ahead in the end. LOL

FITBIT are happy to take your money. If they made a product that lasted substantially longer than the year warranty how would they take more of your money??

Did you do a recent upgrade, that likely is the culprit. Good luck

Well everything Google touches turns to garbage. Now that they are owned by Google and they're harvesting our data. They will probably trash their support group and lose this customer base too.
And my expensive Ionic is in the same boat.

My ionic died after nearly 2 years. It had 50 percent charge and then went blank and can not charge anymore in my computer or wall port. I have tried all the fixes and it still doesn't work. Fitbit offered me 25 percent off another one, the same as all the black Friday sale prices. Fitbit you should be ashamed that you make and sell a product that is clearly faulty and instead of fixing the problem you try and get us to buy more of your products. What a waste for our planet and a waste of money. I am certain you won't reply or if you do it will be the generic we have to abide by our company warranties comments you have previously spewed out. Clearly you don't care about your customers or you would acknowledge the problem with the Ionic and try and make amends with your customers.

Well, I came to this thread because, you guessed it! My Ionic died at 13 months old. I was wearing it, and it suddenly became almost painfully warm. I took it off immediately, but it was dead. I tried the 3 button reset, but nothing happened. It was a raffle prize, so I'm not out anything, I guess. However, between this, and all the issues I had with it when I had an Android (which were all magically solved when I switched to an iPhone a few months ago) I don't feel any loyalty to the brand. I thought it was ugly, and very masculine, anyway. I really liked having it, though, so I'll definitely buy something else.
As a side note, I have to disagree completely that a robot reply from a "Fitbit Moderator" is the best answer, and that the issue is solved. Not looking good, Fitbit!

My surge died just outside of the warranty, my ionic just died... Oh, just outside of the warranty .. Both times offered a discount.. How about you just make a watch that isn't junk? Or start calling it what it is. A watch rental company..

Yes they make disposable watches and the warranty is the expected lifetime of the watch. I have a garmin now and I guess time will tell if it is a better investment. So far it is top notch.

I’ve just suffered the same fate with a replacement Fitbit Ionic that Fitbit kindly sent me after my original Fitbit started “cooking”, hitting a temperature of around 45 degrees Celsius before I took it off. The replacement Fitbit was around 24 hrs old & 90% charged when I attempted a software-initiated factory reset to try and sort out a problem with phone synchronisation. Now it’s dead, and neither the 2-button turn on or 3-button reset sequence do anything. Skimming through some of the entries in this thread, there seem to be serious problems with the Ionic, and maybe there needs to be a complete product recall. I’ll be notifying Fitbit via other channels and will update this thread when I have a response.
