Fitbit Ionic Dead - Won't Power On

ANSWERED

After having used a surge for less than a year, I switched to the more versatile (and expensive) Ionic. Less than two months later, it won't switch on: the screen is dead. After having gone through multiple forums, this seems to be a common occurrence. I'd have filed for a refund if this was less than 45 days old. Fitbit is losing a faithful customer today.

Robin best of luck, it seems that everyone here meet with the same answer "sorry for your luck".  Please share your findings, I still have the watch, but have moved on to a competitor and I am happy with the change so far.  Cheers!!

My fitbit ionic suddenly died in the middle of an exercise (I was running) 2 days ago. Tried to charge it with no luck. I had given up on it and was planning to buy another product from samsung. Today I gave it a last try to fire it up by pressing the three buttons simultaneously for close to 10 seconds. Success! It fired up with the 0% charge and it came back to life from then on after charging. But dont trust fitbit devices anymore!

My ionic has suddenly stopped charging and is now completely dead and no longer shows 0% charged when i connect the charging cable.

i has hoping this thread would help me fix it but none of the fixes work so ive had to contact fitbit, fortunately its less than a year old.

This is the second fitbit I've had so I'm quickly losing faith, particularly seeing the number of instances of failure.

Try my trick. Press the three buttons simultaneously for just over 10 seconds. You will likely get it fired up to a 0% charge status

Thanks that worked for me. My black screen happened after the latest update Jan20 to my Ionic, and  I went on a run. Not sure if it's a coincidence, but 2.5 miles into my run it went dead. I assumed a low battery even though I thought I had 66% before I left, but when I put on charge, nothing completely dead. Feared the worse after reading a few posts, but tried your reset solution and it sprang back into life. So hopefully that was a just a clitch and it continues to work. Thanks again.

I promied an update in my original email. As previously noted, nothing would revive my Fitbit.  However, I have personally found the Fitbit folk to be good in terms of support and will be sending a replacement. Hopefully this one will give me a few more years of reliable service - by then I expect the technology will have moved on and I will be ready to consider an updated solution.

Congrats on being one of the very few.  Good luck with the replacement.

I've had a similar experience, Fitbit support told me to try a few things, all are common sense things that I'd tried already, they them said i would get a replacement fitbit which i am happy with.

lets hope this one lasts over 8 months!

i am also assuming the new Fitbit has a new 2 year warranty?

Ricsb65......... I guess if you live in Europe you have a 2 yr warranty, however the remainder of the universe has 1 yr warranty.  Odd isn't it that Europe gets preferred treatment.  Just shows use how we rate in the eyes of FITBIT.

So far happy with my garmin and haven't had to reset it, unlike the FitBit which seemed like a monthly ritual..

Essentially, It's a watch rental program
Best Answer

It's a REALLY expensive rental program !

If it was a vehicle or almost any other retail item, there would be a mass recall to correct the issue.

Thats the truth, especially if the updates are the cause.

Take it to social media, preach to all that will listen, don't but their
products because they don't stand behind them. My 20 dollar timex that's 20
plus years old still working perfectly. My expensive ionic dies just
outside of the 12 month warranty and Im basically screwed. Let's be real,
they're imported from China at a cost of probably around 40 bucks. (yes I
actually have been to China and have some experience in this area) they
could charge you a 20 dollar handling fee and still be just fine.

But why would they do that when they can make millions THEIR way.
