After today’s run, and as I do after every run, I synced my Fitbit Ionic to check my stats. But today, immediately following the sync, the display went blank and wouldn’t come back on. It wasn’t a battery issue — my Ionic was fully charged. The heart sensor was still working. But I couldn’t get the display to come back. I couldn’t bring the display back by pushing the left button, either. I finally tried holding the left button and bottom right button to restart my device. It worked, and my device is now working normally again (knock on wood), but does anyone know what went wrong in the first place? Was it a software glitch? Thanks.

@kesgardner I hope you're doing well! That is very strange, never heard of that one happening. Not sure what may have caused it.
I had a similar situation in which my Ionic will get stuck. However, performing a restart fixed that, and it only happened once. Have you experienced this once again?
I believe this shouldn't happen again after the restart you did. However, if it keeps happening to you please let me know.
Keen to hear if other users have experienced this as well? And if so, have you performed a restart to fix?
Keep me posted!

I’ve had no problems and it seems to have been nothing more than a glitch. Thanks.

@kesgardner Thanks for your reply! I'm very glad to hear that this is not happening again and that you keep enjoying your awesome Ionic.
Additionally, have you checked the Feature Suggestions Board? If you have any ideas for future features you would like to see on your Fitbit device, this is the best place for asking. Feel free to search for existing feature suggestions or add you own original one!
See you around!

I had this happen to me too the other week. My tracker is only a few weeks old it was fully charged the day before. I went to check it and it was dead. As it happened in the evening I left it until the morning, but tried it a few times in between to see it it had come back alive. It wouldn't connect to phone etc either while off. The next morning it showed the flat battery screen. I've charged it and it's been fine since (touch wood)

@Emasullivan It's great to see you in the Fitbit Community! I'm glad to hear it's working fine now! I'm sure that won't happen ever again.
However, if that happens again, try performing a restart on your Ionic. That helped me when I experience a similar situation. I think that could help anyone else too!

same thing happening here... I knew the battery couldn't be drained since the sensor light was working but either way, it wasn't coming back on after charging for an extended time. Did the restart but this really shouldn't be happening.

@DrewR Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for reporting this situation with Ionic's screen. That shouldn't be happening.
Thanks for performing the restart to resolve this. I'm glad to hear it helped you with this.
This shouldn't happen again after the restart. However, keep an eye on it to see if that would happen again.
If this happens again, please let me know!

Every time I use my wireless headphones, my fitbit ionic screen goes dark. It will not restart. This has happened twice. This time I've been charging for hours and still no restart, even after trying hard restart.

@manning.carrie Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for reporting this strange situation when using your wireless headphones. Also, thanks for performing the restart. That usually helps resolving this kind of things.
Are you still experiencing the same? Is the screen just dark and will not turn on? What happens when you plug it in to the charging cable?

The same thing just happened to me. Thank you so much for posting this solution. It just worked for me. Now I can see my screen again. This is an expensive watch & I hope this does not happen again. O want to be able to use this device for years to come. Why did this happen Fitbit? I have only had my ionic for about a month.

So the hard reset only worked for 2-3 minutes before my screen went blank again. It went blank right after I tried to sync it with my Fitbit app. I just had to do another hard reset & it seems to be working now. I also forgot to say in my original post that my ionic was almost fully charged so it definitely wasn't a battery issue.

@manning.carrie Thanks for your reply and for providing this information about the situation you are experiencing with Ionic and your headphones.
Something you could try if this continues to happen is a factory reset. Go to Ionic Settings app > About > Factory Reset.
Please notice that this will erase every app, clock face, music, etc. That you had installed on your watch.
Something else you could do is getting in contact with customer support to further check on this matter. I can help you getting in touch with them, please let me know!
@DRCJ Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for reporting this and for trying the solution.
Also, thanks for sharing the workaround that helped you out. I'm sure other users will find this helpful. I'm glad you are back on track.

I am having the same priblem and it seems to happen when my watch and phone connect. The screen goes blank and even if I restart it goes blank again immediately. If i turn my phone's Bluetooth off the screen immediately comes back on. I have already done a factory reset an have seen no improvement. What now?

This has happened to me also. Doing a restart brought the display back on. Since then I have had other issues such as not syncing correctly and not logging swims, so keep an eye on it.

I just had the same thing happen this evening. Decided to track a walk as exercise with Ionic at 39% charged. Realized partway in that I had not received the GPS connected vibration. Looked down at the Ionic - no display.
Once I returned home I noted that the green HR light was on and plugged it into the charger - no change. Performed the reset and everything came back on.
Now I'm curious if others have seen this issue...

My ionic just died while I was on my run. I had 90% charge when I started. The screen went blank but the heart rate monitor was still flashing. I had my wireless headphones connected, but I’ve had them connected for many many runs with this watch already and had no problem. When I got home I had to do the left button bottom right button and reset method
