I’m reading a lot of complaints on the Fitbit Ionic. I am looking into purchasing one, can someone please advise of what issue/s they have experienced?

Overall I've had a positive experience with the Ionic.  The battery lasts about 5 days between charges.  Notifications works as well, consistently.  The heart rate monitor seems to be accurate from my experience.

My ONLY complaint is that the SPO2 sensor has not been enabled, and I've owned the Ionic since launch day.

I'm using a BlackBerry KEY2 running Android Oreo 8.1

I have had a Ionic for around a year and up until recently has been good. Last week it just stopped taking a charge. I thought this watch was going to be better than the previous 2 Blazes that I owned. I have spent over $600 with Fitbit over the last 3 years and it seems the average lifespan of these trackers is one year. I am not interested in getting a 25% discount on my next purchase. I want a quality product that can give me some service life. I can buy a $25 watch at Walmart that will last longer than one of these. Not happy at all!

Exactly! I went back to a Pebble for now. I forgot how much I enjoy some
of the simplicity of the Pebble. I miss the heart rate monitoring and the
GPS, but I'm certainly not going back to Fitbit.

Unfortunatelly I  had a similar issue....11 months working before the fail. I have to fight to get a replacement and got one. During such period I started looking for another brand....purchased a new one for 1/6 of Ionic value !!! Working perfectly, even with more accurate on GPS and heart rate measurement !!!

I will not even test my replacement.

I should thank Fitbit customer service support which help me o lot making a decision to look for another brand.

Sorry

Ok I just ordered one. $134 free shipping CDN from Amazon. If it lasts longer than this Fitbit junk I am way further ahead at that price!

I would not recommend buying the Fitbit Ionic!  I paid $285 to purchase a Fitbit Ionic in January 2018 and it completely died and stopped working this summer.  I called Fitbit to see if they could help me.  They said my device was outside of their 12 month warranty and told me there was nothing they could do.  I was shocked that Fitbit didn't offer to try and repair it.  I can't believe that I paid this much money for a watch that lasted 1.5 years.  I've previously owned multiple Fitbits devices but after this experience they've lost me as a customer.  I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure others don't make the same mistake I did in buying this device.  I'm planning to write the Fitbit Management team and Board of Directors a letter to share my customer experience with them:  https://investor.fitbit.com/governance/management-board-of-directors/default.aspx

Mine just died after little over a year... Fitbit of course would not allow the warranty and offered me a 25% discount on another unit or 40% on a watch I did not want they could not sell .. Honestly, I've had my mixed opinions on this company. Bought an aria scale that had plastic tabs break on the weight sensors and died.  I had a surge watch that had a cheap band.. Told me they could not replace the band, but sent me a whole new unit. This time, the Ionic died a short lived death... Also, they missed a christmas because they could not produce these units in time for the season causing stock to tumble. Only because apple does not have a comparable unit do I buy the Iconic product. For how long?

Stay away from this brand.

Get another product.  I have an Ionic.  While it's nice to be able to customize the look and the app is fine, the device doesn't work well.

Heartrate is unreliable.  I don't think step tracking is very accurate (it will show me with 20,00 steps after mowing our relatively small yard).  The device kicks itself out of exercise sessions while I'm in the middle of exercising (known issue according to Fitbit support).  Information on the clockface I've selected randomly disappears and reappears though it is supposed to remain visible 100% of the time.

An though the device has issues created by Fitbit that they're working to solve, the only way to see if they've been fixed is to contact support yourself.  They can't or won't push an update for a fix to your device, and can't or won't send a notice through their app.  Pretty poor customer service is just icing on this crappy cake.

They replaced mine for a second time but I’ve given it away. I’m researching other options

If you like spending some hundreds of dollars on devices that will end their life cycle in just a few months -or less- after the warranty expires, this is the brand.

That is a good idea, this time when it dies you won't be irate that they won't replace it after just 9 months. I have had two die and all I got was a 40% discount off of a Versa Lite. My wife has a cheap no name smart watch that has lasted much longer.

I hear ya. Really sad because for the seven or so months I had mine I loved it. But now the two months I’ve had my Apple Watch I like this better. I do wish the battery lasted more than two days and I wish it had a sleep tracker but oh well. Just hope you find what you like better without being f’d with by Fitbit.

the heart rate monitor is not the only issue.  The step count is way off. Sleep monitor is way off.  Watch fails to synchronize.  Trying to swipe between windows is very un responsive if it work at all

Don't waste your money. This watch is great when it works. The problem is that it won't last more than a year and a bit. In that case they have your money and the warranty has run out. They won't go out of their way to help you.

Got my first one a couple of years ago. The heart rate monitor stopped working, Fitbit sent me a new one.  Not quite a year later my newest one stopped holding a charge, going from about a week to 4 days and slowing declining.  If you do purchased one, I would not recommend purchasing from Amazon, but regardless of where you purchase it, make sure you get the extended warranty. When the one I have now dies, I am honestly thinking about getting one the 50 dollar ones from China.  I got one for my grandson the same time I got my first one and it is still doing great, has about the same features as the Ionic. I hope this helps.
