The latest update for my Ionic seems to be causing so many problems. I use Samsung Galaxy S10 phone:
1. Ionic randomly disconnects from the Fitbit app, and I have to uninstall and reinstall the app to get it to connect again.
2. Ionic tells me there is insufficient power when plugged in for charging.
3. Randomly goes into the Fitbit logo and then changes the clock face.
4. Either will not sync or takes a long time to sync and then loses data during the sync.
I HAVE tried.
1. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
2. Shutting down and restarting the Ionic
3. Turning the Bluetooth on my phone off, restarting my phone and turning the Bluetooth back on.
Short of doing a factory reset, which I ended up having to do after the previous update, Can anyone think of anything else that might help resolve these problems?

Your watch should work well with an S10.
1. There is a known problem with the Fitbit app that may cause short battery life.
To confirm if it is that, turn off the phone's Bluetooth, Shutdown the watch, wait 10 seconds and place it on the charger to restart it and fully charge it. This way you may need to charge it less often.
2. Ensure the watch and charger terminals are clean and use a PC to power it.
3. For syncing problems its not necessary to uninstall the app on an S10, instead try
In Android phone Settings * Apps Fitbit Storage - clear cache [not data] Force Fitbit Stop [though it doesn't seem to fully] Log back in to the Fitbit app
*Quick Shortcut: Press and hold the Fitbit launch icon, then App info [on some phones] |
This clears most issues and avoids having to set up again notifications and app notifications and any special settings.
Though a simpler sync repair solution that often works is to logout and login, go to the phone home screen without closing the Fitbit App and click on the pop up sync notification. This should repair and link your watch again.
You can use the SimpleCheckUp app from the gallery to verify if the watch is connectible to the phone and also when it last synced, two different functions, it must be connectible for it to sync, but doesn't have to sync for it to be connectible. This might help you locate the source of any problems.
4. Make sure that the battery savings on the phone is not active, which will cause it to lose connecting.
On the phone check battery optimizations [the options may be different in your version]

I have a Galaxy A10s and the app is useless on that. It didn't matter what I did it just wouldn't sync or pair back up, with my Ionic.
I put the app onto my Galaxy tab so and it works just fine. It only syncs when I'm close enough, once a day maybe, and to be fair I use the app less and less for anything.

@SunsetRunner - as you don't sync regularly try the SimpleCheckUp app from the gallery, because you can check when you last synced without having to open the Fitbit App on the Galaxy.
This means you can sync irregularly, but can check to sync before losing data.
For your A10 issue, did you restart it, and follow the previously posted steps? There may be a simple setup on the phone issue. Worth investigating.
