@SilviaFitbit please don't hang around the warranty. Mine was merely 2 months out of warranty. What is the guarantee that if I spend money buying another fitbit, it wouldn't end up the same way? I would've had no problem if there was a physical damage that yielded to the death of my ionic. If the device would just die on me with no reason, I'm probably done with fitbit..

Hi. Fitbit Ionic will not turn on or charge. Reset has no effect as screen is blank. I have cleaned contacts and used several outlets but there is no sign the device is charging. Where do I go from here?

If you are in warranty then go ahead and get it replaced. If not fitbit will give you a 40% discount to buy the device again so that you can keep buying every year.

Totally agree, @Bprecise! I've been a loyal Fitbit user/enthusiast for years in spite of issues with the products. I just thought it was me until I got on the forums and read how many people have had the same problem. Maybe Fitbit should consider changing their warranty policy since so many of the devices tend to fail shortly after warranty ends.
I cannot express how duped and cheated I feel. But I'm trying -- to everyone I talk to. I'm telling people to not buy Fitbit. At this point I can't justify encouraging people to waste their hard earned money on a device that breaks in less than 2 years. I owned an Apple Watch and sold it to buy the Ionic. Big mistake. The gal who bought it still has it and its working just fine. It was a year old when I sold it so that's almost 2.5 years and still ticking. As for me, I'm done with Fitbit and going back to the sure thing.

There are many forums on this same topic. Seems like it's an ongoing issue. Not interested in 40% off when this is my 3rd Fitbit. I was 2 months out of warranty when it mysteriously stopped working. Others are saying it is a firmware update issue. FIX THE PROBLEM and stop taking hard working people's money. I will not pay for another one. Moving on to a better product."

My Fitbit will not charge or turn on as well. I have tried cleaning with a Q-tip and charging for an hour and it will not turn on

The saga continues....
My husband and I got our Ionics at the same time. For Christmas in 2017. Mine turned into a brick a little over a week ago -- 5 months after warranty ended. His started acting up today and now the screen is all black and pink lines. What the heck, FitBit!!??!! Is it a marketing ploy? The more expensive it is, the lower quality? Not a great sustainability strategy if you ask me. I'm going public on Facebook today. That will definitely get the word out. It's just sad to see such a great product go to hell in a handbasket. One great way to kill a company for sure. I'm with you @jwbarnes my next smart watch will be an Apple Watch.

Exact same thing happened to me...thankfully. My Ionic was 11 months old and never abused in anyway.

I am having the same issue. I've cleaned the back and even tried a new charger. My watch will not charge and now it will not even turn on. What do I need to do?

When I woke this morning my battery was low, When I got to work I plugged it in and it showed 5% left and charging. About an hour later I checked to see how charged it was and it wouldn't turn on. I've cleaned around the 3 peg connections and I've wiped it with alcohol. I used the same cable I've been using since I bought it, then I used another replacement cable at my office with a different USB hub. It won't turn on, and it won't charge at all. I've held down the left and bottom right button for 30 sec but there doesn't seem to be a point since it's already off.

wow a lot of us purchased around end of 2017 and start of 2018 and the ionic is dying in May/June 2019. strange to have so many issues right now all at same time? mine completely died, won't charge, etc. determining on whether to spend the money again on fitbit or go apple this time. that much money every year doesn't make sense.

I too am extremely frustrated at Fitbit's lack of accountability. We're not all coincidentally experiencing this. There is a problem with the firmware update that needs to be acknowledged. I've advocated for Fitbit for 6 years, but I can't stand by a company that won't take responsibility for poor execution.
