Just wish Fitbit admits there is an issue and they either have a fix or a replacement program. I’ll wait another week or so then I’ll buy another brand. Too bad I loved my Fitbit devices over the years but this issue with the Ionic has been frustrating.

They don't want to prematurely jump to any conclusions... This thread is only 10 pages long... Not enough evidence yet to conclude anything.
Don't hold your breath waiting for Fitbit to do something.

When they don't even want the devices back there is only two possibilities, they don't want to know what the problem is, or they already know exactly what the problem is. Either way they've made it perfectly clear that their one year warranty is all we can ever expect even from a obviously poorly made product!

This may explain a few things why a response won't be coming anytime soon.

Oh not, they'll eventually respond. .
" I want to thank all of you for the time you took to share your thoughts with us regarding our Ionic device and our Customer Support team.”
Can't help but wonder why they are happy that we share our thoughts, unless they simply enjoy hearing about people that got screwed by buying a defective product they sold.

I have the same problem after 13 months. It's almost as though they specifically designed it to just outlast the warranty.
Guess I'll have to go back to my old Garmin, if I can find the charger for it.

My Fitbit ionic after 1yr and 6 months stopped working . I have tried your suggestions to no avail. It was 90% charged and overnight just stopped working, this utterly sucks. I may just get an apple watch because based on your comments, this happens alot with Fitbit.

thanks for the reply on firmware version.
How can i determine when my Fitbit Ionic firmware was updated? my watch was fine, then it wasn't. I would like to know if my Fitbit like others on here were impacted by this latest update.
I understand the warranty limitations, but am disappointed that a device failed coincidentally when many many other Ionics also failed at same time. Seems like a recall or at least a transparent RCA should be done with the customers impacted. At this time, you are losing a 7+ year customer due to these issues.

IFA 2019 happens in a week or 2. New product announcements from Garmin, Suunto expected. Also Apple has their Series 5 watch announcement in 2-3 weeks.
Should be a solid lineup to choose from.
Good luck

Just got the email today...the same 25% off the next one, what exasperate me the most is the lack of customer support from these people, I will not buy another Fitbit, today I bought a garmin , based on reviews both positive vs negative, the positive outweighs the negatives and it does not have the issues that Fitbit has, after 3 yrs with Fitbit I am saying goodbye to them.

That explains it ! Switched companiesnto Garmin, let's see how this fares.

Congrats! Which Garmin model did you go with?
I got a 40% and 25% coupon off different models as well. For old technology, with rumors of new models coming out soon. This episode of falsely advertising water resistance to 50m, and then allegedly firmware updates bricking devices has led to a very poor customer experience.
Really only thing that would keep me in Fitbit watches is a zero cost replacement of my watch, or a huge wow factor of rumored Ionic/Versa 2 offered at Fitbit cost to those of us that now have bricks.

Exactly! I got the forerunner 245 music, looks good, has the features I want, working to compete in a few races and need to get myself ready. They gave me a coupon but declined, not getting another Fitbit if it's just going to do the same thing in the near future .
We'll see how this fares.

Well it looks like I’m going to have to look at other options. Just two much trouble charging this Ionic. It should be effortless.

The Ionic I bought in November, 2017 died last week. I've had the same issues as everyone else on this board as far as trying to revive it, and talking to customer service and only being offered discounts instead of a replacement Ionic because it's beyond the one-year warranty period. The same thing happened with my Fitbit Aria scale. It completely died about 15 months after I bought it, and Fitbit won't do anything beyond the one-year warranty.
I've been a Fitbit customer since 2010, and I've owned multiple Fitbit devices over the years. I thought the Ionic was a great device for my needs (especially the GPS for running) but when it bricks and they don't stand behind their product--especially for customers who have been with them since the start--it's time to start looking at other brands.
For now, I'm using a Blaze I had stored away after I bought the Ionic, and it still works great. The Blaze may be the best device Fitbit ever made as far as reliability and durability. I've also dusted off a TomTom Runner GPS watch I was using prior to the Ionic for GPS mapping of runs/mileage/pace. That also still works great. I pop the Blaze out of the wristband and put it in my pocket so I still log Fitbit steps while running. Not an ideal situation, but I'm not buying another Ionic. Fitbit can send me a new one if they want to keep me as a customer.
