Right there with you Mcosta. Using my Blaze in a suboptimal stop-gap solution until the IFA 2019 announcements are made (or Fitbit steps up and tries to retain their shrinking customer base)

I'm adding my name to the list of customers with Fitbit Ionic that just stopped working, 15 months after purchasing. A problem surface a couple weeks ago when a vertical white stripe appeared on the screen (when first turned on) that would diminish until the screen blanked, then it would reappear (bright) when I turned the screen on again. Then, yesterday, I could not get the screen to come on.
I think it may still be working since the rear LED was flashing once. Tried doing the reboot think, which didn't work. Tried charging, nothing. I thought to try setting it aside until the battery fully discharged, then trying to charge. And maybe force a reboot?
This thread seems to indicate that the problem is reasonably widespread. I'm not optimistic. Luckily, I've kept my solar powered analog on my truck dashboard so I have a backup.
Fitbit: can you offer any constructive advice or information?
Thanks,

Hi @SunsetRunner ! I already added my experience to the list a couple of weeks ago, but just wanted to say that I experienced the exact same symptoms with mine. First the white vertical line, then on and off and later nothing apart from some sense of light when I try to charge. Also, when I try the special restart procedure (with 3 buttons, as indicated in another thread), you can see the light go off for a split-second and then on again, but still nothing on the display. Mine stopped working after about 9 months.

There are tons of users claiming for the same ackward behavior and fitbit is not interested on solving this issue (it is less expensive to proceed in this way). In my opinion (as stated by others), there is a design "problem" with the device and fitbit will never acknowledge it. My Ionic stopped working (is dead) with only 15 months of use and, during this period, I have faced tons of other minnor problems (like poor gps connection, unstable music transfer, sync issues and so on). So, the best option is "move to another brande (a solid one)".

DannyWillen and others, thank you for your (all) response. It's helps to know it's a common problem so that I don't waste time repeating the usual 'this will fit it' simple solutions that never work. Calling Fitbit also seems futile since I'm not going to buy another one - even with a discount - and throw good money after bad. I'm beginning to have second thoughts about smartwatches in general. I had a Samsung before this and it's HR monitor didn't work well when exercising. Maybe Garmin? I'm thinking of looking at the hybrid watches. At least that way, if the 'smart' features stop working, I still have a working watch. I think that'd be true?
Anyway, thanks for your response. Dave

@AndreaFitbit I called customer service and they had me perform the same troubleshooting procedures before offering me a discount on the purchase of a new one. I ended up buying another ionic. If this happens again with my new device within a few months of the warranty expiring I’m off the bandwagon for sure.

Mine died this morning during a run as well. 13.5 months old. Surprising so many seem to fail just out of warranty.

Someone tell me how to stop getting these 200 fitbit email messages per day??
I can't find a simple direct "receive no email" button anywhere!

Ricardo! You are not listening. Your post assumes the screen is not black. My watch is dead

sounds kinda like forced obsolescence.
The discount is meh... I worked in electronics, so know things sometimes fail, but this feels like a bad lot of chips, bad firmware, or something that got out and bricked devices.
That said, they have new devices coming out, and new data analysis service, but if the HW keeps failing what good is a $10 subscription?? the Versa board is almost as bad as here with devices failing as well. I feel my 6+ year run w/ Fitbit is coming to an end and I am actively looking at the other options.
good luck everyone.

I just did an update last night and my ionic is dead to the world. Did all the troubleshooting techniques in this thread, three times over and to no avail. Need help but doesn't look to be any!
