Fitbit Ionic won't start after a shutdown.

I manually shut down my Ionic to reset the counters , that's the solution from Fitbit when the watch is not counting your progress, then i won't turn back on. I charged all night, still nothing happens. I have this fitbit for 14 month now..no issue what so ever before that. Customers support offered me 25 % discount...no even a " send it to us and we have a look in to it". Just trow it in the garbage and buy a other one from us! Great! 350$ watch that last one year and then buy a other one and next year buy a other one... It's that normal?? it's that what Fitbit stand behind and say " buy again form us" ?

For now...Fitbit will be a thing of the past, unless they offer me a other solution than "here's 25% discount and buy a other watch". Wonder is Apple, Samsung, Garmin etc.. treat their customers the same way...? I'll find out soon enough!

Okay for all the future posts here is the correct way this watch is suppose to work:

1) Off

  1. In the watch scroll to settings, then about, then shutdown (Settings/About/Shutdown).
  2. Left Button and Right lower Button, Hold together until the watch face disappears, then let go of the buttons.

2) Reset:

  1. Left & Right buttons, Hold both together until the watch face disappears, keep holding the buttons until the fitbit logo re-appears, let go of the buttons.

3) Factory Reset:

  1. On the watch: Settings, then About, then Factory reset (Settings/About/Factory Reset)
  2. (IF Your Watch is On) Hold all three buttons down and wait for the watch to reset/reboot, you will see the Fitbit Logo, keep holding all three buttons, the Fitbit logo will disappear again, let go of the button right button, you will feel a vibration, let go of the remaining two buttons, Factory reset has begun.
  3. make sure when doing 2 that you also remove the ionic from your phone, either remove the watch prior to factory reset this way, or right after. You will have to re-link your watch back to your phone as if it was a new setup.

Anything else being told how to "reset", "reboot" is wrong.

If you are trying to turn off your watch by going to about and shutdown and then the left button is not turning is back on, and are having to resort to using the left and bottom right buttons, you are force resetting the phone. This is the only option for watches that the current firmware has messed up. This means there is no way to turn off this watch unless you let the battery completely die.

If you are in this situation, most likely your time is not being kept correctly (running 5mins to 90mins slower then real time), you are having syncing issues, you are having trouble connecting to bluetooth, and probably a slue of other things I haven't mentioned. I have found some interesting things since this issue has come up:

For example(This happens on my watch): Once I have been able to get my watch connected and synced with this new firmware (70.7.14) if I do not wear this watch at all, it will not lose time, time will be the correct current time, if I put on the watch in 1 hour I will be 3 mins behind. It will also lose sync connection once its on my wrist.

Currently testing solutions, but its very slow due to the current issues

That is in correct you never used to have to hold both buttons and now because if that when I pose on it drains my battery!!!

youre right Krista86, you only had to press any button for watch to restart, sometimes just putting the watch down on a table was enough to restart it, and the battery never went flat overnight when it was off.

the latest update had a change where the left button function was selectable, maybe thats what has screwed this device

Tried  the left button and the lower right button for 20 seconds and the logo came up and restarted the watch. I had done a shutdown of the watch last night when I was at the movies and it didn't come back on when I exited the movie. Thought battery had died etc. Glad this possible solution was posted and it avoided me from buying a new watch. Thanks again

I get the having to turn it on a different way it used to be only left button to power it on. Now having to use 2 bottoms and powering it off at nigh it’s doesn’t completely shut off. So in the mean time when you turn it on in the morning the battery has a low percentage or completely dead . I am going to switch to different watch. I already gave up on my Fitbit because of all there issues!

Hi.. I'm having the exact same issues you are having.  Have been on the phone to customer services several times to the point they eventually sent me a replacement.  Received the replacement today and having the exact same issues again, all after the firmware update.   I don't even want to contact customers services again as its very time consuming.. In my experience, they don't seem to be very knowledgeble..

Yeh they do not care, I’m beginning to think this is there way to make us upgrade to a new model. They will never fix the issue so I stopped wearing mine what the point the cellular part does not work just standard options do. It’s so frustrating knowing they always say they send it to a higher up dept but they don’t fix the issue either. Pointless

Don't know if this will work but give it a try.

Continue to shutdown the watch as you normally do.

Put the watch on the charger over night.

Start it up as was indicated here.

See what the batter charge % is.

There are 2 options it charges in shutdown mode or it does not.

We are hoping it does.

I would suggest the following put watch on charger and try restarting by pushing left button and right lower button for 20 seconds or so. The fitbit logo should appear and it should restart itself. Let it charge itself until adequate.

I did what uppity said and the device won't turn on. I plugged it in and nothing.

What do I do?

If you did the extra step that has to be taken now because fit bit messed up the firmware I guess the next step is to call them. Good luck with that they are not helpful at all. They will stir you away because they themselves don’t know how to fix the issue.

They did the same thing to me. Customer service talked me through trouble shoot, mind you my watch was on before. After factory reset it wouldn't turn back on. They didn't even say send it in to be fixed 🤷🏾‍:female_sign:

I’ve had this same problem 4 times!!! Each time they “helped” me trouble shoot and I ended up buying another watch and just so we’re clear I’ve spent $350 4 times. Yes you guessed it $1,400 on the same watch!! I know I am crazy but this is my last one. It’s insane that there’s clearly a “flaw” with the watch and instead of having a fix for it they make people buy a new watch with a 25% discount.

im honestly just using this watch until it dies and I’m switching brands because they clearly don’t help customers the way they should.
