Fitbit Ionic wont turn on after swimming

My Fitbit Ionic is a little over 1.5 years old, so I guess it is out of warranty. But I used it in standard operating conditions, in a swimming pool, and since then it is dead. I tried to call the helpdesk number and was informed that as it is out of warranty, no help will be provided. I am now stuck with a dead $250 toy that lasted only about a year. Is there any way to repair it? Or it is the normal lifespan of this product?

I've shared your post with our Support team and they've mentioned you already have a case with them. Each case is reviewed individually and the option provided is based in the Fitbit Warranty

@SilviaFitbit Thank you for the reply.

The case you mentioned is a dead end. The support rep told me that there is no way to repair it (even if I am willing to pay for the repair), and the best thing they can do is to provide me a 20% discount coupon for another Fitbit device.

So, I realize that a Fitbit device is worth 20% value after a year. The intent of this post was to check other community member's views on this.

If my current device cannot be repaired for a reasonable cost or cannot be replaced, you just lost a loyal customer. I am never going to purchase a piece of junk which loses 80% value in a year.
