Fitbit OS 2.2 - Ionic Firmware Release (32.12.19)

Hi, everyone! I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.2! (Firmware Version: 32.12.19) At this time, we've released Fitbit OS 2.2 to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users.

WHAT'S CHANGED?

Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.

IS THIS UPDATE AVAILABLE TO ME?

This update has only been released to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users. If you have not yet received an update notification and wish to force the update, you can give the watch a FACTORY RESET and then follow steps 1 - 4 below. Please make sure you sync the watch before performing the reset so that all your current data transfer over. Factory resetting your device clears all data from the watch including music, Fitbit Pay information, and apps. Historical Fitbit data will still be available in the Fitbit App.

HOW DO I UPDATE?

Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here. We recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.

If you run into trouble updating your Ionic, please follow these steps:

  1. Restart the watch.
  2. "Remove" the watch from your account inside of the Fitbit app.
  3. "Forget" the watch from your phone's Bluetooth settings (along with any other Fitbit devices paired to your phone)
  4. Try the update again.

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

I used my iPhone SE.  No issues with the firmware update, and quite frankly my Ionic is really crushing it. I think the Pandora updating is happening much more consistently with every charge I do.  GPS is stable and accurate (although it has been generally for me).  Seems great.

I tried from my computer at work...

I tried with the dongle...

I tried without the dongle...

I eventually got mine to work by doing a full return to factory settings, using my work iPhone. There's a special sequence of presses to do to reset if you can't access from the screen.

I can't even get my Ionic to factory reset, it fails every time oddly enough.

I've tried multiple phones, and it always shows it's updating but after it completes it and I see that lovely green screen saying it's complete, I check and it's still at the previous version.

I can see the update from my two iOS devices but it seems it hasn't rolled out on my Android device. But it doesn't matter the update never works anyhow.

After 2 days, finally got it to work with another factory reset. No wonder the Iconic has slipped in ratings and reviews. Did they hire some of the folks who built the recent Win10 fall patch? Last Fitbit device I will purchase.

Factory reset worked for me!

I'm sorry, none of this has helped me. I've completed all of these steps multiple times, and always end up with the same outcome. Failed. At least I dont feel like an idiot after seeing so many with the same issues. Should have never even attempted the update. Watch worked great before then.

Hopefully this update will finally allow my ionic to sync with my Huawei.

Still haven't even seen notice on the app that there's an update. Maybe that's a good thing...

Has the update been quietly taken down? Usually, in the UK it was just a few days before we could update the firmware. Now, nothing appears.

I saw it in my IOS device and not my Android device. So who knows!

I would think possibly. Maybe too many bugs in it. This is why they roll it out slowly.

@Butterflywings yeah, because why to invest in a good QA department that will shred product into pieces looking for a smallest bug? Better to do it totally free using existing customers, because what could possibly go wrong... 😐

Me too, no sign of an update and I was beginning to wonder if it was Fitbit's version of the last Windows update that had to be pulled back into the IT garage for repairs.

I’m one of the fortunate few who have not seen the update offered for install. Seeing all the problems pre and post install, do you think it might be prudent to pull this update?

Best Answer

I think they may have already pulled it..........

I tried it again today. Did a complete restore, and boom, it worked. Really was not worth all the trouble though

I'm stuck at 27.32.10.20. It looks like there are several updates I've missed.
