Hi, everyone! I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.2! (Firmware Version: 32.12.19) At this time, we've released Fitbit OS 2.2 to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users.
WHAT'S CHANGED?
Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.
IS THIS UPDATE AVAILABLE TO ME?
This update has only been released to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users. If you have not yet received an update notification and wish to force the update, you can give the watch a FACTORY RESET and then follow steps 1 - 4 below. Please make sure you sync the watch before performing the reset so that all your current data transfer over. Factory resetting your device clears all data from the watch including music, Fitbit Pay information, and apps. Historical Fitbit data will still be available in the Fitbit App.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here. We recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into trouble updating your Ionic, please follow these steps:
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

im looking at garmin, fitbit doesnt listen to its customers, heart rate alarms is what people want, does fitbit give?, no.....how about turning off bluetooth..no. i really love my ionic, but it could be fantastic..it isnt.
Suggestions on this board are largely ignored and all the problems people experience with updates make the fitbit product more of a problem than its worth, which is a shame.
to the mods replying, thanks for stopping by, thanks for joining in....nice to see you here, welcome to the forums, etc , etc etc.... let me know how things go etc etc etc

Yes, in order for you to get this update you need to perform a factory reset on your watch. For the ones that have tried this already with no effect; please check if you are performing the right steps:
Note that factory resetting your device clears all data from the watch including music, Fitbit Pay information, and apps. All your Fitbit data is still available in the Fitbit app.
Also, check what firmware version you have. The latest one is version 27.32.12.19.
Please remember to keep this thread on topic regarding the firmware update to Fitbit OS 2.2.
Keep me posted!
Hello @SantiR,
I wondered if you could tell me if the Fitbit OS 2.2 update will ever be available to users without having to do a factory reset? Or is this going to be the only way to update going forward?
Many thanks in advance!

Not a thing in that list was answered. I refuse to do a factory reset to update the watch. I guess when this one goes I'll be looking else where

@EAcosta @Trvlbug207 Just wanted to jump back in here to clarify that a factory reset is not planned to be a requirement for future updates. This workaround has been offered to users who have not yet been prompted to update to OS2.2 but would like to do so.
Though I do not currently have any additional information to share in regard to the OS2.2 rollout strategy, I do want to let you know that your voices are being heard by our team and that your frustrations are totally understandable.
I personally apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced and I hope to provide you with an easier path to update your Ionic in the future.
As mentioned, I will be sure to keep you all updated on any changes to this firmware rollout as they become available. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions in the meantime. Thanks!

Thank you! Please update with the ability to respond to text messages or IM and other new features. It would be great not to have to do a factory reset to get the new firmware. Please keep us customers in the loop

@MattFitbit I do appreciate you giving a non-generic response, even if it isn’t fixing it.
I have posted on the feature suggestions board before and it usually ended with the Mod saying we have no plans to implement __________.
Over the weekend i bought a Fenix 5. I haven’t opened it because I want the Ionic to succeed. But truthfully, I think it’s telling that I even took the step that I did.

@soccersnaps I bought a Garmin Fenix 5 over the weekend. I haven’t opened it. I am hoping Fitbit does right by us Ionic users.

How about device compatibility? Is the LG G7 supported with this update?

Do you have an iPhone? If so I've read that this is Apple's fault and not fitbit. I have a samsung and have no problems responding to text and facebook messages, albeit with predefined messages.

What I have tried
factory reset fitbit
deleted app and removed from bluetooth
and setup my Fitbit again
-still messages didn’t work
hard reset fitbit
-still no messages
Removed ionic from Bluetooth
re-paired it using the notification button
-still no messages
turned off and back on notifications on both app and watch 😢
-still no messages
is Fitbit looking into this issue? Am I the only one that has this issue with messages not coming thru but emails work fine?

Hello everyone! Thanks for sharing the different experiences you have had with this.
For the ones that haven't received the update; please remember that you need to perform a factory reset on your watch for it to receive it.
For the ones experiencing trouble with notifications; try setting them up once again to sort it out.
Keep me posted!

I am having the same problem. I had an iPhone 7 Plus and it worked fine, but with the iPhone XS I can get phone call notifications and reminders to move, but no texts. I've uninstalled the app, forgot the Ionic and reset the firmware. Still no text messages. Very frustrating to say the least.
