Fitbit OS 2.2 - Ionic Firmware Release (32.12.19)

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi, everyone! I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.2! (Firmware Version: 32.12.19) At this time, we've released Fitbit OS 2.2 to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users.

WHAT'S CHANGED?

Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.

IS THIS UPDATE AVAILABLE TO ME?

This update has only been released to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users. If you have not yet received an update notification and wish to force the update, you can give the watch a FACTORY RESET and then follow steps 1 - 4 below. Please make sure you sync the watch before performing the reset so that all your current data transfer over. Factory resetting your device clears all data from the watch including music, Fitbit Pay information, and apps. Historical Fitbit data will still be available in the Fitbit App.

HOW DO I UPDATE?

Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here. We recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.

If you run into trouble updating your Ionic, please follow these steps:

  1. Restart the watch.
  2. "Remove" the watch from your account inside of the Fitbit app.
  3. "Forget" the watch from your phone's Bluetooth settings (along with any other Fitbit devices paired to your phone)
  4. Try the update again.

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

As usual, my fitbit ionic has stopped working and will not let me synch or download the new firmware.  Happens every time the firmware or app has an update to it.

So I have been using 32.12.19 for a few weeks and it has been alright.  Though still states it is only rolling out to a small group of people.  Now the change log shows 32.12.24 but there are no details other than to look up Fitbit OS, yet there isn't an associated Fitbit OS change log.  So what changed?

I updated mine - it took about ten minutes. I was apprehensive while it was, but everything works fine.

I am using Fitbit since over 2 years. Have not had any update problems.

But Fitbit should definitely provide release notes with more information regarding the fixed issues.

Since running with 32.12.19 + Android Fitbit App from 14.11.2018 no sync with Honor 10 is possible. Ionic itself is running well, but sync is not working. No restart, reset etc does help. Really bad.

Sync with Win10 notebook is working from the first day...

27.32.12.24 is sequentially later than  27.32.12.19. While 32.12.19 is the release listed in the title; due to the issues Fitbit had with deploying that release, I believe they incremented the release to 32.12.24 to address additional issue. They just haven't opened a new thread for that release yet. It's certainly listed on the release notes page:

What's changed in the latest Fitbit device update?

Updated to version 27.32.12.24 yesterday afternoon--went smooth and (relatively) quick, BUT today my activity tracking is not working! It auto-detected my activity but then resets to zero after tracking activity for random time periods. In example, I walked for 33 minutes uphill--it correctly detected and tracked the activity--then I stopped to answer an important email. When I started my walk again and the activity showed zero! All other functions appear to be accurate. Anyone else experiencing this?

UPDATE: Took another walk...auto-detect activity froze at 14 minutes, walked another 15 minutes to confirm it was frozen. Noticed pulse meter at "--", looked at back of Fitbit and no green flash. 3-button reset and green flash and pulse meter working again. Should have walked to see if the auto-detect  would pick up the activity but instead I manually set the activity to walking...it tracked steps, duration and calorie burn. Will try the auto-detect activity at next walk.

UPDATE: Seems to be working properly again. This issue can be a real problem for people that use the tracker to calculate calorie burn and tailor their caloric intake. Will update if problem continues to present.

I'm still trying to get mine set-up.  After about 5 hours (92%) it "failed".  Ridiculous.

No shock here. firmware update and now I have trouble syncing my watch. (I might add this is my 3rd watch after being sent 2 replacement watches) regret not purchasing a normal watch instead of this tracker.

@Paul1960 If your Fitbit Ionic is able to do what is described in the new firmware version, then your device is up to date:

  • When you’re downloading multiple playlists, you can now see the download progress of each playlist.
  • Your Fitbit watch automatically connects to your most recently paired, available headphones when you play music. For more information, see How do I connect Bluetooth audio devices to my Fitbit watch?
  • Your alarms and timers now alert you even when your Fitbit device is locked.

@sfringer @runnerboi418 Thanks for your comments.

@SunsetRunner Currently, Honor 10 is not part of the list of supported devices. Our team is constantly adding new products to the list, once any update be available it will be communicated as soon as possible. For more information about compatibility, please visit this article.

@The_Oyster I'm glad to hear that your Ionic is working fine again, thanks for the updates.

@COSAILORS If you haven't been able to set up your Ionic, please follow these steps. To resolve difficulties to update the firmware please visit this article.

@TheLibrarian If you haven't done it, please take a look at our guide to resolve syncing issues.

Keep on stepping.
