Hi, everyone! I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.2! (Firmware Version: 32.12.19) At this time, we've released Fitbit OS 2.2 to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users.
WHAT'S CHANGED?
Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.
IS THIS UPDATE AVAILABLE TO ME?
This update has only been released to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users. If you have not yet received an update notification and wish to force the update, you can give the watch a FACTORY RESET and then follow steps 1 - 4 below. Please make sure you sync the watch before performing the reset so that all your current data transfer over. Factory resetting your device clears all data from the watch including music, Fitbit Pay information, and apps. Historical Fitbit data will still be available in the Fitbit App.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here. We recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into trouble updating your Ionic, please follow these steps:
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

@Vash22 That’s rough man! Yes, the watch is tracking my bike and runs. So it is doing that base functions.
we have put in a number of requests for better and improved features, that seem to go unheeded. Meanwhile, in my cycling and running groups, my buddys are enjoying those same features. These things shouldn’t be hard to integrate.
But again, as you said at least mine is working. Have you considered a Garmin? I only ask because I have thought about it the last few days.

I mean my Apple watch can't even track my sleep and doesn't last longer than a day without charging. I can get 2 days with GPS use on my Fitbit before charging .
Apple watch and the Ionic are really apples and oranges.

I like the Ionic.
Here in Europe Garmins with similar Features are more expensive. The Apple watch also.
Sure, Fitbit has a long way to go. But I am optimistic. The Ionic was a big leap compared to my old Surge. I am still missing some features (Strava Live Segments, Fitbit Pay Support in Austria, Advanced Sleep Tracking,...) but the Ionic is a solid product with good battery runtime. I got 4 to 5 days while using the GPS sensor at least on 2 of these days.
But I have to say that this firmware update has not reached me till today. My Ionic still runs with 32.10.20. I hope to get it soon.

It's more like apples to lemons...
I've tried to remain optimistic with my use of the Ionic (since February of this year). It is very unpredictable when it will not function as expected. I've encountered the crashing Exercise app when the first lap point is reached, I've encountered random crashes of the Exercise app which have caused the Ionic to completely restart. Recently I've started having the heart rate get "stuck" during runs; it will read the exact same heart rate and when synced actually reports no heart rate after the point where it got "stuck". After the first time this occurred, I ensured my Ionic was clean and even restarted prior to each run since. It has still gotten "stuck". If I want any hope of my Ionic successfully playing music through my Bluetooth earbuds, I need to wear my Ionic on my non-preferred wrist (and even that does not help 100% - the earbuds work fine with two different phones)
On the positive side, I've not experienced the sync issues many users report. But again, this is something that is completely unpredictable across the user base (from reports here)
I'd like to see that Fitbit is attempting to fix these issues however they continue to provide very generic release notes for updates. It does not instill confidence in their efforts to provide a reliable device for exercise tracking. It also does not help that the moderators, while doing the best they can, do not provide more than the standard "tech fixes"; reboot or factory reset. It would be reassuring if feedback from the development engineers could be provided to show us users what sort of grasp they have on understanding our issues and having a roadmap towards remediation.
While I am not actively looking to replace my Ionic, with Black Friday and Cyber Monday approaching here in the States, I may see if something more suitable is offered at an affordable price.

I never had a freeze or crash.
But I can say that I experienced the sync issues (is fixed since some months - don't kniw if it was the firmware update or the Android App update) and very seldom the described HR stuck. But I thought this was because of sweat or rain on my wrist. It occured only two times in months.

Nope, I've ruled out sweat/rain as the cause of the stuck HR. First, there's been no rain when this occurred. Second, it's much cooler now and I'm not sweating nearly as much as I have on past runs (in the summer) which did not encounter the stuck HR issue. (and I thoroughly clean my Ionic after each run rinsing under running water and wiping with a clean cloth prior to charging while I shower) So, my Ionic should have a clean HR sensor area conducive to good data readings.

Fitbit Update: 11/19
Hey, there everyone! I'm sorry for any confusion this firmware release may have caused.
To anyone following this thread for updates, please note you will not be prompted inside of the Fitbit app to update to the latest firmware version (32.12.19).
Instead, we only released Fitbit OS 2.2 (32.12.19) to a small subset of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa customers. If you currently have Fitbit OS 2.1(32.10.20 or 32.10.15) on your Ionic and want to upgrade to Fitbit OS 2.2, the only way to do that is to factory reset your device to receive the update. See this article: How do I erase my Fitbit device? for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
*Please note that factory resetting your device clears all data from the watch including music, Fitbit Pay information, and apps. All your Fitbit data is still available in the Fitbit app.
If you’re having issues updating from a previous version, we’re working on making the update more widely available. We apologize again for any confusion surrounding the release of this firmware. We are always working towards making improvements for future releases.

Does this mean the software is still a beta version? I don't have an Ionic, although I was thinking of buying one soon. However, this thread has me seriously reconsidering that purchase, and perhaps going another brand altogether.
I'd hate to buy something and immediately be confronted with the issues I've read about in this thread, and now you have a newer software version that you're not making public to all consumers? Sounds odd.

Hi Moderator
Have you fixed the delay in notifications with this update?
There's huge delays in receiving them. Other times I don't get them at all.
Everything is on bluetooth nowadays keyboards mouse, phone are all near each other so when u tell me that it has a prob syncing because of other bluetooth devices well it's an issue for me cause everything is on bluetooth. How do we fix this?

@Laubenad about notifications, do you also experience issue that when somebody's calling you and you already pick up the call(without rushing ) then after a while suddenly Ionic starts vibrating and shows notification of phone ringing? Incredibly annoying but I think it shows that delay you writing about ( few seconds, enough to pick up a call before notification reaches the Ionic ).

yes and sometimes I don't even get the call notif. on my ionic.
I just switched my text app from whatsapp to regular android text app and still nothing.
even when i performs tests with the person across from me. NADA!
So what's the fix?

@sfringer I concur! I want the Ionic to succeed. I really do! The profile of the tracker is superior to all other trackers.
The potential is awesome. But then we see Fitbit come out with three products in the first year of the Ionic’s release... why not spend money on what is already out there, keeping the group that bought your most expensive product happy!?!?

Because at the end of the day the Versa is much more profitable.

is there any chance we receive this update within this century?
or is already fitbit os 3.0 in the pipeline to solve the many problems?

Fitbit Update 11/20:
Thanks again to everyone in regard to your patience around this firmware update.
@soss3osp As @AlessFitbit mentioned, we have released Fitbit OS 2.2 (32.12.19) to a small subset of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa customers. Though I am not able to provide any additional information on the rollout schedule, I will be sure to keep you all updated as more information becomes available.
@EAcosta Welcome to the community! I can confirm that this firmware release is not a beta test.
@Laubenad @SunsetRunner Sorry to see that you are having issues with your notifications. If you haven't already done so, I can recommend following each of the steps detailed in this article. This should help refresh the Bluetooth connection between your Ionic and your device.

Hi
For the 2nd problem try the following:
1-Press and hold the left button
2-Change the screen mode to auto instead of manual
Hope this work for you... i meet the same situation 1 month ago...
It seems that When connected with your phone you will see beside the watch icon a pink symbol inviting you to download the update...
And like number of users..this what i am waiting for

@sinco @Khaled-TN Welcome to the Fitbit forums! Thanks for participating on this thread and for sharing the workaround that helped you out to update. I'm sure other users will find your posts helpful.
@pointy101 I hope you're doing well! Thanks for posting that you have not received the update yet.
Please perform a factory reset on your watch to get the new update. Please note that factory resetting your device clears all data from the watch including music, Fitbit Pay information, and apps. All your Fitbit data is still available in the Fitbit app.
If you’re having issues updating from a previous version, we’re working on making the update more widely available.
We hope this helps you get back on track. Keep me posted!
