Fitbit Update 1/10/19:
Hi all! Big thanks to everyone for your feedback on the release of Fitbit OS 3.0!
Since the majority of users have now updated to 3.0, I will be closing this thread from further comments to help keep our community discussions on-topic.
If you are experiencing an issue outside of the firmware update process, I invite you to start a new thread on this forum and we will be happy to assist you there. Thanks again and happy stepping!
Fitbit Update 12/26:
Hey, everyone! We're aware that some of you may have noticed a fast battery drain on your Ionic watches after completing this firmware update. Our team is investigating the root cause of this issue and whether it was caused by this update or other factors are involved.
In the meantime, if you're experiencing this problem please try a restart on the device then consider switching to a Fitbit made clock face! Many 3rd party clockfaces (especially those with animations) are known to use up more battery. If you try this out and are still seeing a fast battery drain, we can connect you with Customer Support for next steps or you can reach out to them and create a case.
We look forward to getting you all back on track!
Fitbit Update 12/22:
We've released Fitbit OS 3.0 out to 100% of users. Please make sure you have the latest version of the Fitbit app (2.84) before downloading the newest firmware.
We're excited for you all to have the newest Fitbit OS, but please let us know if you have any questions about this update. Happy Holidays, everyone!
Hi, everyone!
I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 3.0! (Firmware Version: 27.33.1.30)
We've started to roll out this update to 20% of Ionic users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Ionic users can expect to have it soon. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
WHAT'S CHANGED?
Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here. We recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into trouble updating your Ionic, please follow these steps:
If anyone isn't seeing the Today app after updating, please try the following:
1. Make sure you're running the newest version of the Fitbit app.
2. Connect to Wi-Fi in the Fitbit app, plug your Ionic into the charger and let it sit. This will automatically update the Today app.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

My ionic has been stuck for about 3 hours with the Fitbit logo, half the display is blue, the rest black. Is my ionic now dead or will it recover ?

I just updated my ionic with the new update and then I started updating some of the apps I had on it. The screen is now only showing the blue like loading progress thing. It hasn't moved up in about 20 minutes and I can't do anything on my screen. It doesn't let me get off that blue screen or anything. Please help.

Yeah the update is causing problems on the older .19 version as well. Was not able to access watch faces or apps as others noted. Seemed the server was down -> and Fitbit is trying to fix this and other download problems right now. But wasted an hour plus yesterday with Tech Support completely perplexed how to correct the problem. So it was elevated with zero resolution or feedback. Mysteriously the watch faces and apps re-appeared today.
Fitbit really does need to get these updates sorted without so many bugs before pushing out to the masses. Have noted this many times before -> but the message seems to fall on deaf ears even tho they say they appreciate the feedback. Too bad as the Ionic could be a really good watch if the watch and app integration were not so glitchy and so very slow to load music.
Right now have not a huge desire to update -> whenever it is pushed to me. Sounds like a mess at this point.

I was able to update my Ionic last night after a couple false starts. All in all it only took about 25 minutes once it got going. However, I have a few questions:
1. Weather app is now not working. I get my current location but it says “sync to app.” I’ve tried signing out of Fitbit app & signing back in, turning blue tooth on and off, pressing the buttons for a restart, and nothing is working. Ionic has synced several times.
2. On the app it shows that WiFi is connected but on the watch it says WiFi is not connected? (Not sure if this affects the weather app or not.)
3. Female Health Tracking...these stats are no longer under Today...is there a way to get them back?
Thanks in advance!

Fitbit needs to fix their update mechanism. It always screws up the devices.
I'm having quite a lot of issues with my Ionic lately.
- Not getting updates unless I do factory reset
- Sleep tracking is broken.. It stopped taking detailed sleep after it worked just flawlessly for 7 months. Support blamed the way I wear my watch. It is exactly the same like the times it worked flawlessly.
I hope they fix these issues and stop treating Ionic customers as third class citizens..

I got the update message today and went through an incredibly long update process.
At the end, the watch did not work, so I did a factory reset.
Now all I see is the attached photo.
I can't sync via bluetooth or Wifi even the the watch does pair via Bluetooth.
I've been trying for many hours now.
Does anyone have an idea what to try next?

Problem solved. It was the clock face I used not compatible with new OS.
Thank you for helping me.

Is the update back on track already, as the note warning about problems on the top forums has disappeared?
I am still getting no update invitation inside app.
