Fitbit Update 1/10/19:
Hi all! Big thanks to everyone for your feedback on the release of Fitbit OS 3.0!
Since the majority of users have now updated to 3.0, I will be closing this thread from further comments to help keep our community discussions on-topic.
If you are experiencing an issue outside of the firmware update process, I invite you to start a new thread on this forum and we will be happy to assist you there. Thanks again and happy stepping!
Fitbit Update 12/26:
Hey, everyone! We're aware that some of you may have noticed a fast battery drain on your Ionic watches after completing this firmware update. Our team is investigating the root cause of this issue and whether it was caused by this update or other factors are involved.
In the meantime, if you're experiencing this problem please try a restart on the device then consider switching to a Fitbit made clock face! Many 3rd party clockfaces (especially those with animations) are known to use up more battery. If you try this out and are still seeing a fast battery drain, we can connect you with Customer Support for next steps or you can reach out to them and create a case.
We look forward to getting you all back on track!
Fitbit Update 12/22:
We've released Fitbit OS 3.0 out to 100% of users. Please make sure you have the latest version of the Fitbit app (2.84) before downloading the newest firmware.
We're excited for you all to have the newest Fitbit OS, but please let us know if you have any questions about this update. Happy Holidays, everyone!
Hi, everyone!
I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 3.0! (Firmware Version: 27.33.1.30)
We've started to roll out this update to 20% of Ionic users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Ionic users can expect to have it soon. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
WHAT'S CHANGED?
Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here. We recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into trouble updating your Ionic, please follow these steps:
If anyone isn't seeing the Today app after updating, please try the following:
1. Make sure you're running the newest version of the Fitbit app.
2. Connect to Wi-Fi in the Fitbit app, plug your Ionic into the charger and let it sit. This will automatically update the Today app.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

I am totally fed up with my Ionic beta product. It has always been 'dodgy' syncing, but manages eventually.
A new firmware is available. Maybe that will solve my problems, no such luck.
I have tried to update firmware several (dozens) of times. Totally refuses to connect on Android (can't find it on wifi, sometimes on bluetooth). Never completes. Brainwave this morning, let's try the laptop. Almost success (on bluetooth) then (half an hour later) it says 'could not complete' then follows about a dozen attempts to reconnect, finally does, then same message 'could not complete'.
Have switched on off and everything reasonable.
Please sort or replace or will return to Amazon as a product failure and not fit for purpose.
Am totally frustrated by a totally unconsumer friendly product - not fit for purpose

I received the update button. I tried the update and it didn't work then the button dissappeared. I have done a quick restart and a factory reset still no update. I don't want the system to think my device has already been updated.

Updated in about 15 minutes... took way longer for the app to recognize the update was complete, though. Tried to update a second time. All good though. Now if only all the features this watch came with were available... 🙄

Updated mine this AM without a hitch! 🙂 Now hoping that some of the GPS issues I was having will be fixed.

I've got another update notification after yesterday's botched attempt. Will try and install once it's on charge.

Did a re start and a charge and see..

Started my Ionic update at 11:25am. Will post when completed but looks like it is chugging along pretty quick. Finished in about 10 minutes altogether.

Yeah, I can't get my Ionic to sync to my phone or computer. I have an LG Stylo 2, which wasn't on the list of supported devices and it worked perfectly. If this update ultimately causes my notifications to stop working, I would rather stick to the update preceding the 3.0 firmware.
Please issue e-mail update when the bugs are worked out. In the meantime, I'll just hold down this stack of papers with my watch.

So after yesterday with the app thinking the watch was updated I now have an updated watch that the app thinks isn't updated! Marvellous!

Today updated the new version.
And there is still no Speed possibility in the running section. What kind of lazy developing is this ?
As software developer and system engineer can't believe this.
never experienced such a slow development. In addition, there is zero information as to whether this integration will take place.
I have made a complete topic on which FitBit gives zero reaction and if there is a reaction it comes from a robot with; that is an interesting idea
All major sports watch brands have the speed option and you walk behind the major brands.
Even better fitbit ignores the customers completely. Unbelievable

Just got pushed the “Update Available” notification. Since both the Ionic and Versa have had multiple problems updating -> will wait. Fitbit has been silent the past day or so since the notice was put up about the unresolved issues. But seems some are updating again today.
Question is -> Is all good now with no problems updating and working? And if so -> Why has Fitbit not confirmed this to everyone? Hmm? A lot of unanswered posts since yesterday gives rise to some concerns. Interesting.
Edit -> Hmm? Seems it has been deemed ok to proceed again. Will wait anyways. The info to update the App first is definitely new. But that maybe will help the update.

I just tried to install the 0S 3 on my one year old Ionic. Now my watch is "stuck" with the Fitbit logo going off every 10 seconds. I have tried turning off the watch (left and lower right buttons together). It won't turn off. I reset the application on my iPhone- even reinstalled the app, I also tried to plug it into my Mac, but discovered the newer watches can only be updated by the mobile apps. So as of this moment, I have a totally unusable Ionic! I liked it until now, but not so much at this moment.

For me it's the same. Ionic stuck in a bootloop, tried to Factory Reset by holding all Buttons but that's not working too.
Now waiting for the battery to drain and then trying to start/reset again.

That's my plan too. A GREAT thing about the Fitbit is that it charges for several days (4-5 days). The bad thing is that it will take several days for the battery to die! I hope Fitbit puts out an advisory so that others can potentially avoid this issue when "upgrading" to OS 3!

Game Golf does not work. Whenever I try to start a round, it unexpectedly exits out of the app.
How can I downgrade?

tried to install new firmware multiple times and failed! Called fitbit and lets just say they knew all about the issue.
