Fitbit Update 1/10/19:
Hi all! Big thanks to everyone for your feedback on the release of Fitbit OS 3.0!
Since the majority of users have now updated to 3.0, I will be closing this thread from further comments to help keep our community discussions on-topic.
If you are experiencing an issue outside of the firmware update process, I invite you to start a new thread on this forum and we will be happy to assist you there. Thanks again and happy stepping!
Fitbit Update 12/26:
Hey, everyone! We're aware that some of you may have noticed a fast battery drain on your Ionic watches after completing this firmware update. Our team is investigating the root cause of this issue and whether it was caused by this update or other factors are involved.
In the meantime, if you're experiencing this problem please try a restart on the device then consider switching to a Fitbit made clock face! Many 3rd party clockfaces (especially those with animations) are known to use up more battery. If you try this out and are still seeing a fast battery drain, we can connect you with Customer Support for next steps or you can reach out to them and create a case.
We look forward to getting you all back on track!
Fitbit Update 12/22:
We've released Fitbit OS 3.0 out to 100% of users. Please make sure you have the latest version of the Fitbit app (2.84) before downloading the newest firmware.
We're excited for you all to have the newest Fitbit OS, but please let us know if you have any questions about this update. Happy Holidays, everyone!
Hi, everyone!
I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 3.0! (Firmware Version: 27.33.1.30)
We've started to roll out this update to 20% of Ionic users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Ionic users can expect to have it soon. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
WHAT'S CHANGED?
Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here. We recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into trouble updating your Ionic, please follow these steps:
If anyone isn't seeing the Today app after updating, please try the following:
1. Make sure you're running the newest version of the Fitbit app.
2. Connect to Wi-Fi in the Fitbit app, plug your Ionic into the charger and let it sit. This will automatically update the Today app.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

@KT-SanDiegoNo issues on my Ionic.. I use the Ace clock face if that has anything to do with your issue. I have mine set to manually awake or push the left button, swipe up for Today's and I see the battery status and date. Then the stats appear. I did notice a lag when I tried the new extra stats so I turned the new stats off and now everything is working as before OS3.0.. Including all notifications.
Battery has only dropped 1% in 2 hours which is my typical battery life @ about 0.5%/hr and I get a typical 6.5 days battery life without GPS.

Are you getting the 7 options in settings for Today? I only have 3.

After researching carefully proceeded to update to 3.0 this pm taking only 10min flat. Also had only 3 options in Today initially but got all 7 options to invoke with a bit of prodding. App actually asked me stop the update while it was in progress and retry -> but of course ignored that request and instead allowed the update to finish up. That was super key. Do not stop the update while it is actually updating. The pop up was 100% wrong.
App then asked to reinstall the 3.0 again but ignored that also. The Ionic indicated .30 was in -> so the the App was lagging giving improper info. Just simply ignored the App and just synced up after and restarted the Ionic. After that -> the request to reinstall 3.0 again disappeared on its own.
Not a smooth seamless update -> but it did take with everything working except the text message quick replies. All in all was fine but had multiple chances to screw it up. Music GPS and Strava all work right now. But need to test for Exercise crashes.
Also noticed that the screen brightness now dims for a moment when going back from Today screen -> back to the Watch Face screen. No biggy there. Bottom line is 3.0 can update without any problems. But YMMV.

@Jamie_Henshaw Hey! Sorry to hear you're having syncing troubles. Please give our suggestions here a try: Why won't my Fitbit device sync? Sometimes you just have to reset the Bluetooth connection.
@BruceUK Thanks for reporting that you've experienced a rapid battery drain after updating to this new firmware. We've escalated this issue to our developers and they're investigating. If I receive any updates, I'll make sure to let you know.
@Bostonian @SunsetRunner Thanks for your attempts to troubleshoot this reboot issue. If you're still having trouble, let us know so we can connect you to our Customer Support team for options.

I'm out Christmas shopping and all notifications are instantaneous including phone calls.
Fitbit Pay is working seamlessly and immediate receipts on Ionic and Sony phone..
It may be psychogical, but the whole system "feels" more responsive.. 😊

Yes, this is the one.
After I updated Firmware, this is gone.
I update about a week ago for Ionic Firmware and my Fitbit App in Phone was updated 3 days ago.
Anyway, I do not see Today's Status, nor Battery Remaining Percentage Indication.
When I swipe up, nothing is happening....
Before Firmware Update, it was working since I purchased this Ionic a year ago...

Thank you, maybe its a couple of those things. It seems to have been getting stuck when I had the phone on wifi also, so been using data on phone and did setup wifi on the Ionic. So maybe that's it. I don't think Ive had an Windows update for the Fitbit app though for awhile. Not sure where to find the windows phone app version?

My Fitbit Ionic was on such condition several times after this New Firmware.
My Phone App was updated to the latest 3 days ago and I did connect my Ionic for charging
since then, but still it was NG for Today's Status with Battery Remaining Percentage Indition.
I did Forced Reset by keep holding Left and Lower Right Button for Forced Reset.
It was still NG and finally, I decided to do Factory Reset.
And it came back for Today's Status with Battery Percentage Indication.
Anyway, finally, it is working OK.
I hope no more mis-operation.
Still I have a big Concern for GPS Tracking Data Loss.
I did not see Improvement Information for this Firmware Update.
I lost many data during important my Full Marathon (26.2 miles)....

After several days with the update it seems stable so far. However no matter what I try I still only get three options for the Today app.
Also the weather app worked well for the first day but since then it stopped updated (a known issue when used with the Windows app, but was hoping this FitbitOS update would resolve it.
Apps in the Fitbit app still show the yellow warning symbol next to permissions on both Today and Weather, which may have something to do with the issues.

Its great that you specify the version of the Fitbit app but not the OS that app version matches to. I know both iOS and Android have a 2.84 version but Windows latest from December 2018 is 2.39

Ok I got mine to show up by putting it on the charger for awhile while the phone was on wifi, while I was syncing my pandora and music, when it finished I had all the check boxes.

@ChrisL8 wrote:Why does every single upgrade result in the watch upgrading, but the Fitbit Android app stuck on the "Updating Your Fitibit Ionic" screen?
I've owned this watch for almost a year, and been through many upgrades, but in every single instance, the Fitbit Android App cannot tell when the upgrade is done, and won't let me back out of the updating screen. I have to force quit the app, then it says the update failed, then it says there is a new update, then it eventually accepts the reality that the watch is already updated.
This was the same for me - but I am iphone / IOS. Told me it failed but it has eventually admitted installation happened.

i dislike the garmin connect app. also the displays of the garmins are no match for the fitbit displays.
but you can enjoy live segments and have the ability to connect external hr sensors.
in my opinion garmin and fitbit target different customers. garmin is more runner centric while fitbit also supports that but is more on the fitness side with way better sleep tracking.

After 8 hours of trying to update, numerous wi-fi problems (that were absent on previous updates), resets, factory settings resets, got the watch to update to 3.0, but stuck on 3 options in today's app and cannot install any new apps/clock faces.
I'm tired, leaving Ionic as it is. User experience is getting worse and worse with every interaction.
