Fitbit Update 1/10/19:
Hi all! Big thanks to everyone for your feedback on the release of Fitbit OS 3.0!
Since the majority of users have now updated to 3.0, I will be closing this thread from further comments to help keep our community discussions on-topic.
If you are experiencing an issue outside of the firmware update process, I invite you to start a new thread on this forum and we will be happy to assist you there. Thanks again and happy stepping!
Fitbit Update 12/26:
Hey, everyone! We're aware that some of you may have noticed a fast battery drain on your Ionic watches after completing this firmware update. Our team is investigating the root cause of this issue and whether it was caused by this update or other factors are involved.
In the meantime, if you're experiencing this problem please try a restart on the device then consider switching to a Fitbit made clock face! Many 3rd party clockfaces (especially those with animations) are known to use up more battery. If you try this out and are still seeing a fast battery drain, we can connect you with Customer Support for next steps or you can reach out to them and create a case.
We look forward to getting you all back on track!
Fitbit Update 12/22:
We've released Fitbit OS 3.0 out to 100% of users. Please make sure you have the latest version of the Fitbit app (2.84) before downloading the newest firmware.
We're excited for you all to have the newest Fitbit OS, but please let us know if you have any questions about this update. Happy Holidays, everyone!
Hi, everyone!
I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 3.0! (Firmware Version: 27.33.1.30)
We've started to roll out this update to 20% of Ionic users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Ionic users can expect to have it soon. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
WHAT'S CHANGED?
Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here. We recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into trouble updating your Ionic, please follow these steps:
If anyone isn't seeing the Today app after updating, please try the following:
1. Make sure you're running the newest version of the Fitbit app.
2. Connect to Wi-Fi in the Fitbit app, plug your Ionic into the charger and let it sit. This will automatically update the Today app.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

I just updated my ionic last night and I didn’t get the “c” version. Do I need it?

As far as I can tell the most recent version of the ionic software is 27.33.1.30.
The most recent version of the today app is 33.1.30.c

You'll have to wait for the update to appear and then select to update it. It may take a day or two. I only got the C update this morning.

Looks like Fitbit snuck in the "extended alarm vibration length" with the latest update patch! The Ionic still suffers from weak vibration in general, but this looks like it's the best that can be done with this device.
Overall very pleased with the current update. The only issue I am having is sometimes logging water on the device does not sync correctly back to the phone app - anyone else having issues with that?

Why does every single upgrade result in the watch upgrading, but the Fitbit Android app stuck on the "Updating Your Fitibit Ionic" screen?
I've owned this watch for almost a year, and been through many upgrades, but in every single instance, the Fitbit Android App cannot tell when the upgrade is done, and won't let me back out of the updating screen. I have to force quit the app, then it says the update failed, then it says there is a new update, then it eventually accepts the reality that the watch is already updated.

Haven't been able to get it to sync water back to the device at all, same with weight. Other people are reporting the same.

Got the update today. Though when I go to settings to select what stats to see. I am only given 3 options. Core, Hourly Steps, and Heart Rate. There are no other options to select. I don't care about most of them as the fitbit is basically useless for tracking cycling, or really any exercise in general (I have a garmin for those). But I would like to see the sleep on the watch without going four levels into the app.

I successfully updated today - 32 mins from start to finish - and all went smoothly. I love the updates - so much more data available on the screen without having to look at my phone. One thing that has disappeared from my Ionic is the female health tracker. It's on my app on the phone, but no longer on my Ionic. Any clue how to get that back?

I too see the Today app says "Select up to 7", but then there are only 3 options. Feels like an egg carton with 12 slots, but they only give you 3 eggs. Very confusing.
EDIT: Ok, now the rest magically appeared. Even more confusing.

33.1.30c is the Today app version not the firmware version. Go into "My Apps" in the App Gallery on your phone. You can see which version you have installed and if a newer version is available there should be an update button.

Most likely your today app got an update shortly after the ionic update, and that's when the additional options appeared. That's what happened to me when I went through the update process.

I am hoping the app update fixes mine. My phone app has been saying "Updating apps" for an hour now. But I my watch isn't on wifi and it is slow. Sadly no way to check the Today app version on the device.
