Fitbit Update 1/10/19:
Hi all! Big thanks to everyone for your feedback on the release of Fitbit OS 3.0!
Since the majority of users have now updated to 3.0, I will be closing this thread from further comments to help keep our community discussions on-topic.
If you are experiencing an issue outside of the firmware update process, I invite you to start a new thread on this forum and we will be happy to assist you there. Thanks again and happy stepping!
Fitbit Update 12/26:
Hey, everyone! We're aware that some of you may have noticed a fast battery drain on your Ionic watches after completing this firmware update. Our team is investigating the root cause of this issue and whether it was caused by this update or other factors are involved.
In the meantime, if you're experiencing this problem please try a restart on the device then consider switching to a Fitbit made clock face! Many 3rd party clockfaces (especially those with animations) are known to use up more battery. If you try this out and are still seeing a fast battery drain, we can connect you with Customer Support for next steps or you can reach out to them and create a case.
We look forward to getting you all back on track!
Fitbit Update 12/22:
We've released Fitbit OS 3.0 out to 100% of users. Please make sure you have the latest version of the Fitbit app (2.84) before downloading the newest firmware.
We're excited for you all to have the newest Fitbit OS, but please let us know if you have any questions about this update. Happy Holidays, everyone!
Hi, everyone!
I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 3.0! (Firmware Version: 27.33.1.30)
We've started to roll out this update to 20% of Ionic users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Ionic users can expect to have it soon. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
WHAT'S CHANGED?
Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here. We recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into trouble updating your Ionic, please follow these steps:
If anyone isn't seeing the Today app after updating, please try the following:
1. Make sure you're running the newest version of the Fitbit app.
2. Connect to Wi-Fi in the Fitbit app, plug your Ionic into the charger and let it sit. This will automatically update the Today app.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

@SunsetRunner wrote:I noticed a significant drop in battery life. Pulled off charger this morning at 7am, showing full charge.
It's 12 noon and it's showing 58% battery.
Had at least 5 days of wear before needing a charge before update.
I had a similar experience.
I shutdown and restarted the Ionic and I appear to be back to normal.
I am noticing slightly lower battery life on both the Ionic and my Windows 10 Phone, however that may be because Weather sync is finally working, so I am happy with the tradeoff
I was at 97% when pulled off the charger this AM and now at 95%.

Hey Fitbit - when announcing your new wiz-bang operating system how about using the same nomenclature as is used in the app? You've been touting the joys of OS 3.0, yet when my Versa updated it showed the firmware was 32.33.1.30. Some of us check the software version on the watch after an update to make sure the update really happened (in my case the update reported a failure, yet the watch reports the latest firmware). Yes you can search the forum for the latest software revision but why should I have to do this?

Just updated my Ionic went smoothly 30 mins job done, re-synced with the app and all seems to be as should be e.g 7 stats selected and showing in today, still got to check out that everything else is as it should be but I have no doubt it will be.
Thank you Fitbit team for a job well done.

I updated to 3.0 and updated my Samsung S8 App. Now when I go to see any Apps related screens like clock faces, I only get "Sorry, and error has occurred. Please go back and try again."

That's happening to me right now, but was not earlier. I think there is a backend error, based on the large banner they are running right now.

That message is about doing music control with your ionic. To do music control, you need to connect in your phone's bluetooth menu in order to register it as a media control device. If you don't want to do that, you don't have to.

It’s not just you - that’s happening to me too. Clock and app gallery don’t seem to be available but otherwise it’s working fine. Initial installation didn’t work properly last so I had to factory reset my watch and start over again and it seems to be working except for the clock and app gallery being unavailable.

Clock and app gallery are broken for me too. Based on the banner notice saying they're aware people are having trouble updating firmware, I think they are having a back-end server issue that is breaking things including the clock & app galleries and firmware update paths.

Clock gallery appears to be back. Not sure if they fixed something, or if it had something to do with my Bluetooth not being properly connected (I thought it was connected but when I went to change my exercise shortcuts it said it wasn’t connected so I had to pair again. Weird because the app was able to read my heart rate and steps live before so I thought it was connected...very strange)

My ionic stalled during the update. When I restarted it a red x came up on the screen and now it won't turn on. It was fully charged during the update (about 90%). What do I do now?

Hi my ionic kept vibrating until I stopped it this morning which is much better so they have solved that issue.
Cheers
