Fitbit Update: 10/9
Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.0.2, available for Ionic (Firmware Version: 27.68.9.15).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
This release includes bug fixes and improvements.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here.
If you run into any trouble updating your Ionic, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

Be very thankful the update was pulled. Do not apply the update.

Why would anyone want to chance an update after all the bricked ionics?
I waited and no longer have the update available, thankfully.
Fitbits responses have been horrible thus far.
Don't chance it!

Maybe some of us didn't know about the bricked Ionics?
Good to know, though. Thanks!

Good thing you didn’t update because it killed my Ionic. Hey

I have the same question. I had the update - and it was fine. Then I did the factory reset and Ionic reverted to 27.33.1.30 and now the update is not visible anymore in the application.

I also had the app wanting me to update and the banner has now disappeared for about a week. My hope was that maybe Fitbit pulled the update in order to fix the "killing my device" issue. I believe one of the moderators seemed surprised by this and asked to confirm that the app is up to date. And yes the app is up to date.
I'm not upset that the banner is gone. I just wanted to make note of it.

This update has kill my Fitbit. I have only had my watch for two weeks before the update and everything was working great and was in joying it but after the Update it gets stuck in the clock display on all time killing the battery in two hours. A reboot of the watch fixes the problem for about 30 mins. Now the watch is useless can’t even use it for the time.

The reason I reset was my bluetooth classic for music control, kept disconnecting which required me to re-pair, it would work 5 mins and then fail again requiring a re-pair.
Otherwise it was working fine.
Not seeing the update again now which is annoying as I liked the new swipe down feature to get to
know I don't know if I want to install it again as it seems bluetooth failing is another fault in this firmware and unless they release a new update this bug will probably still there.
It's all academic for now as I can't re install the update anyway.
With the reset to 27.33.1.30 the Bluetooth works flawlessly.
Anyone else having issues with Music control?
I am about to raise this bug with Support, see this forum thread for more in this issue.
Cheers

Ever since the update the heart rate tracking will suddenly go blank (no heart rate showing) for a while Then start again and go blank again and so on. This has happened while teaching tenni , walking and doing weights. So it feels like a firmware update issue.please advise how to fix this.
Thx

We have two Ionics. Ever since the last update, neither will consistently sync with the app. Either we get a sync start and then "sticks" half way through the process, or we get "no device found". Again, two devices same thing of two different accounts and two different Ionics. Deleted the apps and reloaded, no improvement. Multiple device restarts...maybe it works maybe it doesn't. I recently read that Fitbit wants to complete with Apple Watch. Well, we have been waiting for Ionic2. Now, we're thinking Samsung Galaxy. Fitbit needs to get the tech settled and really soon. I used to tell people how much I loved my Ionic. Now, that's not the case.

Hi! I'm happy to continue providing assistance with the difficulties experienced with the Fitbit Ionic firmware update.
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts and personal experienced with the difficulties experienced with your Ionic devices and the information that was shared by our Customer Support team. The input received here in the Community Forums always help us to evaluate our procedures and improve the Fitbit experience. If our Support team was already contacted about your difficulties, please contact them back if you need more information about the outcome of your cases with them.
@SunsetRunner Thanks for bringing this to my attention. To better assist you with this uncommon situation, can you please check if the firmware update is available in the Fitbit app? Make sure that the app is up to date, same for the operating system of your mobile device. Same for you @gregvp. Since you're experiencing music control difficulties, please check our help article: Why can't I control music with my Fitbit device?
@AjayMathur I appreciate the information that was shared with me. First, can you please let me know if the heart rate sensors of your device are still flashing? Also, if you haven't already done so, I recommend you to check our help article: Why don't I see my heart rate on my Fitbit device? and let me know how it goes.
@EdSawyer If you're experiencing syncing difficulties, I recommend you to check how the syncing procedure works here and see if there's a missing requirement on your mobile device that's preventing the syncing procedure to be completed. Also, you can move forward to the troubleshooting steps that are specified on: Why won't my Fitbit device sync? and let me know how it goes. Please make sure that your mobile device is compatible with our products and services.
I'll be around if further assistance is required.

@RicardoFitbit can you please explain what's going on at a higher level with these breakages?
I'm pretty sure my firmware upgrade got pulled a few days ago. I did not upgrade, no longer see the banner, and can sync again. Corporate needs to issue statements. How many people's devices were broken? When will Fitbit start trying to force the firmware update on us again?
We need Fitbit to restore faith in the company. For me to be a long-term customer of Fitbit, I need to have trust in their procedures.

The most basic of checks were of no help at all, but thanks. Buying the Samsung Galaxy. Done with Fitbit products. I left an appropriate review on Amazon and have begun warning those I work with to do the same.

Moderators, why are you not addressing all the BRICKED devices caused by the update?
It's been pulled, tells me that they know it's bricking our watches!
What's fitbit going to do for us?
What's wrong with fitbit? HELLO?

I never had a problem until I did your update and now my Iconic is dead

I'm beginning to believe that the "update" is really a kill switch in disguise. Fitbit than sells new(old) ionics, empty old stock before new watches come out.
This is like watching a company commit self destruction.
Hopefully Google buys it on the cheap and fixes it....

It would have been a better business decision to offer a replacement with the next model when our Ionics brick from an update.
25% off when the company complicity destroys an older product is just this side of criminal.
Please google rescue those of us that won't update until an update's tested safe.
