Fitbit Update: 10/9
Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.0.2, available for Ionic (Firmware Version: 27.68.9.15).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
This release includes bug fixes and improvements.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here.
If you run into any trouble updating your Ionic, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

Hi,
None of those actions help with the issues I am having with notifications. I've tried everything, including deleting the device from the app, uninstalling and re-installing the Fitbit app, connecting again. Literally nothing works. I keep getting the message 'Notification server not running. A phone restart is required..'. Going on three days now.

If you think it sounds silly, then be assured it is silly.
Do you not think that that is the first thing I tried, especially considering it is a bluetooth device. I've removed the Ionic from connected devices, removed/uninstalled/re-installed, restarted everything and still the same notification message.

@Wigg1nsI've experienced the same issues with their help. Complete incompetence from everyone from Fitbit support I've dealt with.
To be honest, with all the issues and with Google trying to buy Fitbit, I think it's time to move on.

That's what I think too - the device was working fine (well the replacement after the first one's battery died) before the notification issues and the fact that it doesn't track stairs climbed. But if Google take over, that'll be a step too far. Also, if you don't have to contact support you'll be OK - if you have to get support, forget about getting anyone that can actually help.

Updated my fitbit and now I can't get it to connect to the app. I tried to reconnect it to the app and it will connect long enough to register but won't connect after that.

Like many other people here, my Ionic seems to be dead. I've spent two days in a back and forth with customer support, diligently following every suggestion multiple times only to come here and discover that this has been happening to people all over for the past month???
Why not just admit that there was a problem with the update instead of putting me through that?

Iam still using a Windows 10 phone, do you think I should just avoid this next update altogether rather than risk bricking my phone of loosing sync options?

If your device is supported (check here) I would update, if not grab use or borrow a supported device to update. Also, keep the watch and phone on charge whilst you're doing the update. My phone isn't supported and it took 5 hours to successfully complete. With my versa on a supported phone it took 10 minutes!! Its really not a big deal, good luck.

I do have an android tablet, but how does the app affect the update process,or is it just whether you get the update or not?

Yup but Fitbit can care less. Emailed them over a dozen times they say the best they can do is a discount on a new one. I’m like OK no why would I buy a new one when you (Fitbit) broke my previous watch. Screw that!!!! I’m waiting till Black Friday And buying Fossil Smart Watch.
