Fitbit Update: 10/9
Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.0.2, available for Ionic (Firmware Version: 27.68.9.15).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
This release includes bug fixes and improvements.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here.
If you run into any trouble updating your Ionic, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

I have already performed a reset and a factory reset. Still nothing.. can't use the touch screen so basically it's a screen that shows time. Can't do anything with it

I have not had an issues updating firmware to my Ionic, and I hope I never will.
I feel very bad for those of you that had your device die without Fitbit taking the responsibility to do the right thing to keep their customers happy!

Thanks @chris-bit that does seem to make sense about the hardware revisions. I sure hope the developers can figure out how to avoid bricking the watches by the next update.

Im fairly new with fitbit well smartwatch's in general.. Though I wanted to point out. That I feel that the ionic is a bit sluggish in terms of touch and swiping from left to right or up and down for notification or other activities. also notice sometimes when having to enter my pin to unlock my ionic that the touch isn't always responding to my finger touch :S Overall great watch I may add.

Since I made the update to 27.68.9.15 my ionic does not count anything.
Does anyone see the same issue?
Any advice?
Regards,
Christoph

My last ionic was water damaged- strange for a waterproof model. It seems you need to dry it thoroughly when exiting a pool. Replacement no problem since I did this. Full marks to curry’s though- replaced with no quibble, restarted the 2 year warranty and returned £40 as it was on offer at the time.

I have the same issue. The only thing my Ionic now tracks is the time of day.
Multiple restarts, remove the app, reinstall, etc., etc. Get the Calibration message and it fails everytime.
The firmware update has blown up my Ionic.

Mine has not worked properly since the last update, and I have spent many hours, fruitlessly following the advice given by fitbit to no avail. I think that the sooner fitbit acknowledge that the update is responsible for the failures the better.

Matt, I have attempted several times over different WiFis, blue tooth, deleted all other bluetooth devices, removed and added my iconic, etc, I can not complete the update. It starts and continues for about 15 minutes and stops giving the error message "Not working? "

Guys,
Has some of you tried to update the ionic using the computer instead of cellphone? What were the results? Does this process also bricked the device?
As you may know, Fitbit has the characteristic of fails on Bluetooth syncing even though you are using a supported cellphone, it could be one of my theories why several devices are bricked by broken communication, this may also happen on WiFi connection.
If a bricked device was updated on computer, then it only means that there is not a SECURE PROCESS to update our devices, something the the company (Fitbit) have to have for the software released and customer satisfaction.
Any comments ?

My phone is a Samsung Galaxy 10s. I have Android Version 9. I have removed then added my Iconic to the app. I have restarted my phone. The app still disconnects from my Ionic during the update with the same error message. But now I have trouble connecting to the Fitbit . Weather app no longer works. This update is failing. I am not planning to try again until I read that the firmware problems are fixed.

I think your other post got removed as well as my reply unfortunately. I didnt realize that was against the rules, but it was a good idea nonetheless.
I wish they would be better at explaining whats causing all these broken Ionics and what they are working on to fix them. It doesnt seem right to put the updates out there if they are not compatible with all hardware revisions and trackers they are for. If they cant do that they should only offer the updates for trackers still under warranty or are 100% compatible. Would be nice to hear from a fitbit developer about these issues.

@HeathersS still waiting to get a message from Fitbit that they are pushing a fix. While this happen, my ionic won't be updated because it's out of warranty. I don't want to brick a $6,500 mx (~325 Dlls) to much money to waste.
