Fitbit Update: 10/9
Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.0.2, available for Ionic (Firmware Version: 27.68.9.15).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
This release includes bug fixes and improvements.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here.
If you run into any trouble updating your Ionic, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

My watch face is gone, Have tried 3 types to get a new one. Unable to sync.
Just thought I would shut it down and see if that works. I hit settings and it won’t open up the settings on the watch so I can shut it off.

I've just started wearing my fitbit again but there's no update banner? I can't get Spotify on it until I have the update.

That is what happened to my Ionic's battery life as well. Before the update, I could get 4 days out of it. Now, it could not even get through a single day's usage, and that is even without any running workouts that would require me to get the GPS turned on.
Is there any new Fitbit models coming up? Because seriously, this seems like a cheap attempt to mess with our current Fitbits so that we can pay to acquire those new models once they are released. If I can roll back to the previous firmware version, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Mine glitched and completely died after the update. Couple of months past my one year warranty and all I was offered was 25% off a new watch. This was a new watch to replace the charge 2 that completely stopped working shortly after a year. Very disappointed. These are too costly to replace yearly.

Since i’ve updated to the latest firmware I’ve the following happening at least once a day. (average 3-4 times per day)
1. The screen is completely unresponsive. Solved by a reset but pretty inconvenient when using the watch to pay and people are waiting.
2. The watch spontaneously resets.
I’ve never had any of these issues with the previous version
cheers

For anyone suggesting factory reset - this worked for about an hour, then the next sync it went back to not working.
Tried everything, even the nuclear option of factory resetting my phone!
Are Fitbit ignoring everyone with issues to try to force us to get new devices? Otherwise, over two (for me but longer for other users) months without fixing syncing issues seems extremely unbelievable.

I've given up. I just ordered a Garmin Forerunner 235. Garmin has a good sale through 12/2.

Just a final update:
October 17th: Updated firmware, which bricked my Ionic completely
October 21st: Fitbit Customer Service offered 25% off my out of warranty watch. I replied that was not good enough.
October 28th: Spoke to Fitbit customer service again, explained how I have purchased over 8 different fitbits over the years for myself and also family members. Also have an Aria scale and am subscribed to fitbit premium. They finally agreed to replace my watch.
Nov 13th: New watch arrives. With Syncing problems. Spoke to customer service, tried everything available to get it to work, and finally customer service requested that I send it back.
Nov 21st: 2nd new watch arrives. This one syncs within seconds, zero issues, working watch. And works just like my first one before the firmware debacle.
End of the day, my commitment to Fitbit is shaky at best due to everything above. They are still not handling this situation the right way with most of you here.
Wish you all luck in getting your watches fixed and back to normal. Try some of the things I did to get them to replace mine. Be respectful, the people you speak to are not at fault for what happened to your watch, that's fitbit corporate who is hiding from this mess.
Good luck

If update trashes your fitbit and limited warranty has expired. Will only get 25% discount towards the purchase of certain devices on fitbit.com
Stepping without my fitbit,

Hello it's good to see that Fitbit still rolls out updates for ionic, but do you know if they are ver going to do something about the many users who's watch went out in less than a year and wont work?

My Ionic bricked this morning. bought it December 20th 2017. Support offered me 25% off. I may have taken it last Friday when Ionic's were selling for less than $200 US. I now have another brand smart watch. *sigh*
