Fitbit Update: 10/9
Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.0.2, available for Ionic (Firmware Version: 27.68.9.15).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
This release includes bug fixes and improvements.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here.
If you run into any trouble updating your Ionic, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

Wouldn't have helped. The 25% replacement offer is based on regular retail, not the current sale price. You would have saved a whopping $13 or so.

I'm on my 3rd Fitbit, use them for a 40 minute walk each night. We have good consumer laws over here in the UK and an item over the value of £100 is expected to last what is deemed a "reasonable amount of time" which is about 5-6 years. I just keep my fitbits in a silicone case with a screen protector so they look brand new and buy a new one and take old one back as faulty. The shop just ship them back to Fitbit. Ionic Adidas £249.99 I don't think I'm unreasonable in expecting it to last more than 6 months. If you buy anything from Fitbit in the future use a credit card and I find amex best for items that are of poor workmanship when they dispute a transaction.

@TheKaptain thats a good suggestion. There should be a disclaimer stipulating the risk of updating could result in making the device unusable (bricking), and it is a possibility which if out of warranty is not advisable if you're not prepared for the risk.

My Ionic heart rate tracker doesn't function, I spend most of the day in peak heart rate zone apparently and I also noticed the battery doesn't last a long. I've been emailing Fitbit weekly for an update on fixing it since I updated this firmware early Oct. 2 months on and 1 month out of warranty and still get the "thank you for your patience.....we're working on it" With over 600 posts on this subject, you are not alone!!

Hey team! Sorry for the delayed reply.
Thanks for participating in the forums. I appreciate that you've shared your experience with our Support team and the latest firmware version of Ionic. Rest assure that each case is reviewed individually and the option provided is based in the Fitbit Warranty.
In case you're not seeing the option to update your firmware version, it's because Fitbit started rolling out the firmware version 4.1 and you'll get the banner until this version is available.
@MWteU Welcome to the Community. Thanks for the details mentioned and the troubleshooting tried. In this case, I've shared your post with our Support team and they will continue assisting you through email.
@cable-dg It's nice to see you on the Community. Fitbit Ionic is available in Australia here. In case you have it but you haven't received the firmware update, you should receive the newest firmware version and not the 27.68.9.15.
Catch you later.
