this response from Fitbit is why I won’t be doing any updates. Can’t believe that they even admit it may break my ionic.
@MattFitbit can you give an opinion on this please?

I have the exact same issue, exercise app has disappeared and it will not install. Called the helpline and they have to come back to me as all, rebooting and reinstalling avenues done and failed.

Great update now my less than iconic doesn't work apart from how many steps. No heartbeat won't sync with the phone. I will be contacting Fitbit about another one or I may just buy a different make. This is my second one and it is now just out of warranty

Ionic working fine, did update 5 days ago. Then two days ago I suffered the black screen. Took an hour to get anything resembling life. Have charged, drained (it now kindly does this from full battery to dead within 3hrs), factory reset. I can see active main screen with clock face working and updating time, steps etc. but touchscreen will not work.
Fitbit seem unwilling to respond thus far so I suppose the only option left is to notify consumer standards and news outlets that an update by the company has caused ALOT of customers issues and their support is to get these customers to pay for a new product... Shameful and unlawful. Maybe Fitbit will enjoy the negative press?

My ionic screen has become non responsive and it keeps restarting on its own whims and fancies after the update.

Day 6 - no response from support.
Added several replies through mail.
Full charged to dead - 3 hours daytime.
Got a +30000 step count yesterday... It was a busy day, but nowhere near 30k.
I did +8000 steps in my sleep last night...
Turn back this update ! Revert the changes.
How **ahem**ing hard can it be !

I updated my Ionic about 1,5 weeks ago. After the update the device was no longer able to sync. Since this happened numerous times in the past I ignored it for the first couple of hours. Then I noticed that the time on the device was no longer in sync. After approximately 24 hours the time was off for 3 to 4 hours (behind actual time/date). Also the sync still did not work. I went to the troubleshooting guide on the Fitbit website and followed the steps of nu-pairing and re-pairing, resetting, factory default, etc. After that I now can no longer pair the device with my phone (Or any phone for that matter). There is no Bluetooth signal coming from the device. I’ve send an e-mail to support, but no response whatsoever.
@MattFitbit , can you please ask you colleagues at support to respond to me and help me fix this problem? Much appreciated.

Have some but not all issues. Had no trouble till the Jan update. Since then, I keep getting the bluetooth error almost everytime I sync. It pops up, continues to sync and then after the sync it pops up again.
Patiently waited for the 2nd update. Still does the same. I sometimes do not get my sleep logged and I almost no longer get the caller-id to pop up due to the bluetooth woes.
The new update has not fixed things. If I follow the reset/reconnect process where I remove my ionic and add it back to my phone, it will work once or twice and then we're back to norma.
Once in a while, it'd work and I would get a notification on my watch but its rare.
I have been trying to get someone to help via chat but it just says we will connect you with the next available agent.
I am very close to my warranty running out and I am sure if I cannot get a hold of them, they will claim my warranty is over. 😞

hi , still disappointed by the way it is upgraded , but I finally managed to do it !
So first thing is that it is stuck at 80% (blue on the screen) of the upgrade dor quite 2H !
So I restart it ( bottom + back for 10s) then it goes back to the blue logo but does nothing more (after reboot and reboot , still the same ..)
I send an email to the support as they that we don't have to try the factory reset !
but At a moment I was tired waiting and try the factory reset ! (3 buttons 15s until vibration and release bottom button..)
After that .. 30 s of despear as nothing happenned ! and suddenly it reboots and I go back to the Red cross !!
From that point I restart the firmware upgrade (twice as the first one doesn't succeeded) and the last try was ok but last 3H !!!
So today it is ok .. but it is not fluent and quite disturbing

So, I was late updating to this new version - I wish I had seen all the comments on here before I did it! Why didn't Fitbit warn anyone once the problems became apparent? I haven't had any problems with my Ionic but when I tried to update to this firmware it just completely died and I can't get any life out of it all. I have tried computer charge, wall charge with iPhone plug (which always worked) and I have tried the buttons (not completely sure which is the "back" button but I have tried the other two with the bottom button for more than 10 seconds). No life. I am devastated. I was so relieved to get an Ionic after two Surges where the straps broke. I even paid for this Ionic, with just a reduction voucher (£179), even though my Surge's were both under guarantee - that's how much I want to love Fitbit. But if this is the end for my Ionic, after owning it for less than two years, I definitely won't buy another. I really hope there is someway out of this.

I tried the factory reset. It is back to the begining, load the app, connect, which it finds it, but it will not connect. I can't get past this point. I have tried more than several times. I wanted to wait for the battery to die, but it will take forever since it is not being used.
I was originally contacted from fitbit indicating a ticket was done and they will get back to me..That was last week....
Still waiting with no contact.
I use my tracker everyday, it is part of my work and home life, its only a little over a year old and almost 300 dollars. I don't want to have to shell out good money for another tracker right now.
FitBit......You need to fix this!!!!!

I've reset the tracker over 8 times now.
I even got to the point where it starts to burn my wrist...
As soon as I felt it, I took of the watch and turned it off...

I have removed ionic from app, drained battery to 0%, fully recharged and rebooted (can't get to factory reset as touchscreen no longer works) and I still have no working touchscreen with temperamental sync.

If it's me you are addressing: I know.
Uninstalled app, reinstalled app, removed tracker from app, unpair, repair, did all the steps multiple times.
I had a 33k step day last week ... maybe did 10k that day... I stepped over 8800 steps while sleeping...
the update did something nasty.
