Fitbit Update: 12/5
Hi everyone!
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.1 (Firmware Version: 70.7.14).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
The update includes a variety of new features and enhancements, including:
Smart wake: Smart wake will gently begin to wake you with subtle vibrations during the optimal part of your sleep cycle (during light or REM) within a 30-minute window prior to your pre-set alarm. This allows you to wake up feeling refreshed.
Clock face switcher: You will now be able to store up to five clock faces right on your device and quickly change from one to the other using the new clock face switcher.
On-wrist Sleep Score: The score will now be available in the on-device dashboard that can be accessed by swiping up from the clock face. You can still see it alongside your sleep data within the Fitbit app after you sync.
Exercise app improvements: The redesigned Exercise app will now display all 20 workouts in a new streamlined list on your wrist.
Battery notification: When your battery is running low, a new feature will automatically disable notification vibrations
Agenda app: A new Agenda app allows you to see your calendar right on your wrist.
For more information on the new features included in Fitbit OS 4.1 check out this article. You can also check out our press release.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here.
If you run into any trouble updating your Ionic, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

Have you tried pressing all three buttons for about 20 seconds. I have found the left hand side button no longer turns the watch one. It has to be all three buttons at once for at least 20 seconds.

I shutdown the watch at night. The only way to turn the watch back on, is by pressing all 3 buttons, at once, for about 20 seconds and then the boot up screen appears.
Also, the time & date remains at the same time /date that the watch was turned off. A manual sync is required, to get the right time / date.
Before this update, I could shutdown the watch and when it turns back on, it still had the correct time /date.

@SilviaFitbit I would recommend to see "Bluetooth firmware update stuck at 100%" post and the replies. Many of us are facing many issues and we can´t setup our Ionic smartwatch even on wifi or bluetooth.
I guess we all will appreciate if someone from Fitbit team can guive some guidance on what´s going on or how to update the firmware.
Thanks

I have an iPhone Xr that has the latest iOS.
Just got my Ionic warranty replacement 24 hours ago. I can't use it because it will not update, failed over Wi-Fi and timed out/failed over Bluetooth. The update "Watch Face" is staying gray scale and not turning blue like normal even though the App is showing progress. 24 hours of fighting with this, followed all of the Fitbit Help Article directions. The only thing that I haven't tried is doing a Factory Reset using the Ionic buttons (can't access settings), and I am loath to try that as my reason for needing a replacement was my last Ionic bricked when I did a Factory Reset using the settings during the "Degraded Servce" on Dec. 3rd.
Contacted Customer Service over the phone, they were going to try to send me a replacement for the BRAND NEW replacement that i just got. I told them that it was a new replacement and to check their own forums, since I am obviously not the only one who is experiencing this issue. I was then told that a return shipping label will be sent to me and a new device will sent to me. No help there, and no willingness to own their own (Fitbit) issue.
Update: As a side note, the device I currently have is the third one in less than 5 months (it will be a total of 4 if/when I send the current one back).

Hello,
My experience with Customer Support has been similar. The last tech i spoke with exhausted every option, so he closed the call with "We are seeing firmware updates fail then work in a few days. Try tomorrow and again the next day. If you re still having problems call beck"
Needless to say no change. Waiting for my second replacement Ionic. Maybe sometime in 2020...
Horrible customer service. I simply don't understand it.
Good luck!

Updated my watch and I took my first bike ride today with the update. I cannot use the button to start the activity. I have to tap the start icon. After that, I can toggle between run and pause with the button. Not the end of the world, but the button should respond.
Also, during my ride, I toggled between pause/run at red/green lights, and sometimes the screen would immediately go dark before I could look at it to verify that the run/pause state had changed. That's annoying. Seems like it did that when I initially started the ride, too. Also annoying. Neither happens all the time, and I have not experienced it enough times to notice if there is a pattern.
Regards,

Can't update Ionic. Keeps failing.
"Failing" seems to be a recurring theme with my Ionic since I got it two years ago. Every firmware update has been a struggle.

This is the message I sent to Fitbit support who where very helpful.....
I turned it off this morning at 06:49 as I wear my Charge HR during the day at work and I only wear my Ionic in the evenings and when I’m not at work.
I checked it was definitely turned off and no green lights flashing on the back.
Tonight I got home from work and had to press and hold the left button and bottom right button for 10 seconds to make it restart. It definitely won’t restart by pressing one button.
Bearing in mind it was at 97% when I turned it off at 06:49.
At 17:11 when I turned it back on it had dropped to 64%, so something isn’t right.
.........so following on from this....
They are sending me a New Ionic, which hopefully will solve the issue..... but I’m of the mind it’s more a software issue, but they say it’s a battery issue.
