Fitbit Update: 12/5
Hi everyone!
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.1 (Firmware Version: 70.7.14).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
The update includes a variety of new features and enhancements, including:
Smart wake: Smart wake will gently begin to wake you with subtle vibrations during the optimal part of your sleep cycle (during light or REM) within a 30-minute window prior to your pre-set alarm. This allows you to wake up feeling refreshed.
Clock face switcher: You will now be able to store up to five clock faces right on your device and quickly change from one to the other using the new clock face switcher.
On-wrist Sleep Score: The score will now be available in the on-device dashboard that can be accessed by swiping up from the clock face. You can still see it alongside your sleep data within the Fitbit app after you sync.
Exercise app improvements: The redesigned Exercise app will now display all 20 workouts in a new streamlined list on your wrist.
Battery notification: When your battery is running low, a new feature will automatically disable notification vibrations
Agenda app: A new Agenda app allows you to see your calendar right on your wrist.
For more information on the new features included in Fitbit OS 4.1 check out this article. You can also check out our press release.

My Dad's Ionic also suffered with this update. Wasn't holding it's charge and at one point he managed to clock 45000 steps in a day. I had the Ionic sat on my desk watching the step count rise every second. Thankfully his watch was only a year and a half old and was bought direct from Fitbit. I managed to get them to send out a replacement pebble.
It really is unfortunate that fitbit are not helping those who are suffering with this update. All I can say is persist that you get a replacement.

@abusamisabirI would encourage you or anyone to leave it charging or connected at least overnight and more like 24 hours, then try a reset. Also worth cleaning contacts on phone and charger to ensure the best connection.

@youhippyA year and a half, mind me asking how long the battery was lasting ? My current ionic is just 6months old and it holds charge for less than 3 days now. If its dropped that much life in 6 months I don't have much hope for its use for a few months let alone another year.

Almost the same as you mentioned. I usually charge it almost daily at work and afiter the two days week end. I have noticed that it consumes a lot power. Mine was bought on August 08, 2018.

Hello,
If you hold the right button and the lower left button for 10 sec. It

On my Ionic, it’s the only Left and the lower right. It takes about 30 seconds.

David

You are lucky that you haven't been seeing the firmware updates! Just read the history - a lot of folks end up with dead Fitbit's after a firmware update!

Will I be forced to apply this firmware update? I'm still covered under warranty for 3 more months but based on the poor track record of applying these updates, I'd prefer to keep the current status and never update. I am currently seeing the update screen whenever I open up the app on my iPhone .....

Fixing the bluetooth connection to earbuds has been a "priority" for about two years if you look back through the threads in the community forums. It appears as though they won't (or can't) fix this functionality and I'm shocked that they still market this as a working feature.

@RCA219I would really update. It was an easy 10min update for my fitbit. The clock face picker is really nice, and I prefer the exercise gui.Your fitbit will be fine, as long as you have a supported phone, you don't have connections issues, and both devices are fully charged, and placed next to each other whilst charging and updating … and don't let the kids unplug your internet … lol

I performed this update and now the exercise app does not work on my watch. It brings me back to the home screen when I try to pick a workout.

Why do people turn their Ionic off??? I never have. It's always on, I get 5+ days out of the battery and that's tracking 3 pool swims a week and 3 5-10km runs per week.
I have other issues with accuracy and functionality and still haven't applied latest update but still don't get why you guys turn it off
