Fitbit Update: 12/5
Hi everyone!
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.1 (Firmware Version: 70.7.14).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
The update includes a variety of new features and enhancements, including:
Smart wake: Smart wake will gently begin to wake you with subtle vibrations during the optimal part of your sleep cycle (during light or REM) within a 30-minute window prior to your pre-set alarm. This allows you to wake up feeling refreshed.
Clock face switcher: You will now be able to store up to five clock faces right on your device and quickly change from one to the other using the new clock face switcher.
On-wrist Sleep Score: The score will now be available in the on-device dashboard that can be accessed by swiping up from the clock face. You can still see it alongside your sleep data within the Fitbit app after you sync.
Exercise app improvements: The redesigned Exercise app will now display all 20 workouts in a new streamlined list on your wrist.
Battery notification: When your battery is running low, a new feature will automatically disable notification vibrations
Agenda app: A new Agenda app allows you to see your calendar right on your wrist.
For more information on the new features included in Fitbit OS 4.1 check out this article. You can also check out our press release.

I had a blaze before the ionic , I wear it all the time except in the shower and when it needs charging, that's the whole point of wearing a tracker...tracking! I live alone and often have my phone playing something to go to sleep to and tge watch can control the volume st/sp etc , shame amazon haven't made an alexa app for it , I know theres no mic , but there could be controls , theres a Philips hue app , but i gave several different brands so alexa controls them all for me

since this update, I have stopped receiving message notifications. I still get phone calls, and calendar. I am paired with an android OS on a Samsung Note 10+

I performed this update earlier this week and my Ionic battery life has changed from 3-4 days to less than 1 day. This is after going back in and turning off all-day sync and removing any 3rd party apps. I am very disappointed right now in my Ionic.

@Nickjt I like the turn off function that is totally screwed in this update. I only used my ionic when running or cycling and used my charge 2 as a normal watch/tracker/sleep monitor

Seems this update along with IOS13 have cause major issues with my Fitbit.
Won't sync - have turn the watch and phone off several times, stand on one leg and stick my tongue out to get it to sync - very frustrating.
Watch won't keep time - how crazy is that - it's a watch!!!
Sends dozens of notifications to tell me I'm on the phone!
This is my second Ionic, the first one was replaced under warranty - just stopped working - in Australia they have a 2 year warranty - seems like that was forced on them by the consumer agency as the product is so poor. Last time I looked at their website they still don't advertise that, even though the ACCC ruling instructed them to advertise their 2 year warranty!
I don't think this thing has ever really work 100%, but I just keep making concession for it.
Things like Fitbit pay randomly not working
Needing to restart and re-sync continually.
What an absolutely rubbish product!!
BTW Fitbit - please le me know if you have any new solutions to my problems.
Thanks

While I agree with your analysis, it's not simple for me to follow your advice.
I'm a chess player living in Belgium and, during a game, I'm required to take off the watch and switch it off (along with any electronic device).
Then, after 3/4 hours, it's quite annoying to be unable to switch the watch back on in a regular fashion and to have an incorrect time displayed (and remember: since I also switched off the phone, it's needed some additional time in order to switch it on and resync).
And it's even more annoying since now I know that, during that time, the watch was not really off and draining the battery.
Of course, that's not a tragedy in itself but...

Hey, that's a great example of why Fitbit needs to fix this problem. Thanks for sharing that story.

Hi there
So try to hear if your issues, I must be very lucky , I only got my watch about a week ago and when I powered it up it spent a hour updating the firmware so maybe as it was the 1st firmware from brand new it doesn't conflict with anything, I only had to recharge afterv4 days so fingers crossed! My only issue now is getting the strava app to sync!

Had a horrible interaction with customer service over this. Would like to talk to a human being in the US and get a new watch sent to me. Any company worth anything will let you put down a credit card to get a new item and then let you ship back the damaged one so that you are not without a watch! Really horrible experience. I don't like Apple as a company but nobody I know with an Apple watch has done half of the legwork and brain surgery on their items. This Ionic needs constant babysitting and NONE of the secondary apps work as advertised.

My 3rd, yes THIRD replacement pebble arrived today. Let's see how this goes. 😂

By pebble I guess you mean the blaze unit, I o ly had to have 1 replacement, but since the ionic was released and they redesigned the app for it , the blaze has become inconsistent with its synching, which was another reason to upgrade to the ionic

Same exact issues, wondering if a replacement is worth it.

Well so far after a week , and a few teething problems, my ionic is working, it was a present but if you have to buy it yourself have a good look around as to others on the market, I'm in the uk and wanted to use the wallet but only 1 high street bank is available and I wouldn't use it , not s good reputation and with Brexit looming it might not be the time to use a European based bank but the on board gps is much easier than syncing to the phone

Got the 70.7.14 firmware today, and now Fitbit pay is broken.
My Ionic says i have no card in the wallet, while app shows i have a card there.

Your lucky to have a card that works with it ! In the uk theres only 5 companys that will work with fitbit and 4 are unknown online providers

Farewell Fitbit. Been a customer for over 5 years (Dec 2014) and the Ionic was my third watch after having two Surges previously. The firmware update screwed up the watch and several months in there’s still no fix in sight. My new Garmin watch arrived today.
