Just had a successful update of this firmware to ...27 version in 7 minutes in Australia..

So far the Ionic is working as expected.

Was about to update but thought I'd find out first what to expect? Anything special? I'd love a fix for the music skipping over Bluetooth issue...

@evillama  I don't use the music so I can't help you there.. But this update was one of my quickest and everything is still functioning as before.. Syncing is instantaneous..

upgraded ok. Using the android app and what app notifications have started working again.

Shutdown the Ionic and you still cannot start from the top right button so that's not fixed.

@rwheatla33  I just did another shutdown and the left middle button has always worked for me to turn the Ionic on again.  That still works..

I made the error and updated my first Ionic without reading this forum for the firmware issue. See the previous post about previous firmware update.

My Ionic was bricked and I was fortunate to have it changed with a new one that it is working as it should. So, I will not upgrade again until I am sure that the firmware will not harm my Ionic. I will follow this topic to learn more about the issues. I hope there are none or not so big 🙂

Thanks!

It may be something I just haven't noticed before, but the time is shown in the upper right corner of the charging screen. Was this available before this update?

Mine got upgraded this morning as well.

I still have the same 2 grievances as with previous firmware upgrade:

* I can't start a workout with the bottom right button anymore. I have to press the play icon on the screen.

Why Fitbit? Why? There's a button, take advantage of it... I could blindly start a workout before, now I have to look at the screen, take off my gloves in winter, etc... Most annoying!

* The watch face stays on the stat I last looked at. Eg: if I look at my number of steps and then turn off the screen, if half an hour later I want to look what time it is, I first have to scroll through the stats before I can see the time.
I can understand it stays on a certain view for a while, but it shouldn't be too long.

Completely agree with your strategy. Like you, in the past I have been burned by these firmware updates, and have suffered consequences resulting in a dead Ionic on two occasions. Miraculously though it was able to be revived. But I will never blindly download an update until I have monitored this forum for a few weeks and see how other users who are braver than I have feared. Good luck everyone.

Two things are sad here. First, a software release with ZERO documentation. Cart-before-the-horse? or in the fitness world, Running-before-you-walk? Second, these devices are not like PCs where users can install different components and drivers, causing OS updates to fail on various machines - so everyone's devices are generally identical. An OS change shouldn't vary from one user to another. Unfortunately that's not the anecdotal case, so there's a lack of trust in these firmware releases.

I hate that Google is purchasing Fitbit, but if more "enterprise"-like software testing will be put in place, maybe something good will come out of it.

@SunsetRunner I haven't updated and just checked, I can see time in right corner when charging.
